Twitter personality Tucker Carlson praised the former President Donald Trump as the only person in Washington who is right in opposing American involvement in the Ukraine-Russia war.

Carlson’s comments came during a lengthy interview with comedian Russell Brand on his podcast “Stay Free Russell Brand” on Friday.

Trump has frequently called for the United States to facilitate peace talks in the region as opposed to endlessly funding Ukraine’s war effort.

President Joe Biden last week furthered the proxy war by announcing he’d be sending cluster munitions to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package totaling approximately $800 million.

The bombs are highly controversial, as the weapons are a grave threat to civilians – particularly children – and their use was even once described as a potential “war crime” by his former press secretary.

“I’m struck by his foreign policy views,” Carlson told Brand. “Trump is the only person with stature in the Republican Party really who’s saying, ‘Wait a second, why are we supporting an endless war in Ukraine?’”

Carlson went on to point out that in a sea of warmongers in Washington, Trump is the only one opposing American involvement in Ukraine.

And that makes him the only one who is right.

“All I can say at this point is I’m so grateful that he has that position. He’s right. And everyone in Washington is wrong, everyone,” the former Fox News host said. “Trump is right on that question… the war is reshaping the world. It’s reshaping the economy of the world. It’s reshaping populations.”

Carlson, who has been critical of the Republican candidate in the past, also clarified that his current stance is this: “I love Trump, personally.”

Carlson went on to portray Trump as the most important political figure to come along in many, many years.

“I think we’re going to see Trump’s emergence as the most significant thing to happen in American politics in 100 years, because he reoriented the Republican Party against the wishes of Republican leaders” he told Brand.

Trump responded by posting a clip of Carlson’s comments on his Truth Social media platform.

“Thank you, Tucker,” he wrote. “So many lives wasted, so many lives to be saved!”

Was Carlson Fired From Fox Over His Opposition To Ukraine War?

Trump may be the only politician currently opposed to the United States’ involvement in Ukraine, but Carlson has been there all along with his own criticisms.

Carlson was perhaps the only media personality calling for a public accounting of how American taxpayer money was being spent in Ukraine and criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his repeated demands for such war funding. Demands that President Biden bows to without question every time.

The former Fox News host insists he has no idea why he was fired from the network, but one has to wonder if it was due to his lone voice of dissension to the Ukraine war.

“I don’t know why I was fired, I really don’t,” said Carlson. “I’m not angry about it.”

Still, he speculated, “I do think as a general matter, not even about me, the war in Ukraine is a red line for a lot of people in business and politics.”

“You see it in our politics in the US where the leaders of the Republican Party in the Congress, who like are repulsive, in my view, are now supporting sending cluster bombs to Ukraine,” he added.

Carlson points out that Ukraine, as opposed to what war-happy Republicans are suggesting, is “losing the war, obviously” and the United States has the ability to “force a peace … tonight.”

But they won’t.

“They have that power. And they won’t, and they’re continuing to allow Ukrainians to be killed in the country to be devastated,” Carlson opined. “So, I don’t know their motive, I can only guess but I know that if you criticize that they, they really are intent on making you be quiet.”

Reports surfaced in May that both News Corp executive chairman Rupert Murdoch and Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch had conversations with Zelensky in the weeks leading up to Carlson’s abrupt and shocking firing.

If that is the case, it hasn’t worked. Carlson’s videos, which he posts periodically on Twitter, easily get millions of views with each release, a far larger audience per clip than he ever had on Fox.

“What you have to accept is Tucker Carlson was out of step with the cadence of ordinary mainstream rhetoric,” Brand told his own followers. “That’s why I predict he’ll find himself in an independent news space now, perhaps with more power than ever…”

And history will ultimately judge both Carlson and Trump as the only people who were right about the war in Ukraine.
