It’s On: Trump Administration Sues California Over Sanctuary City Policies

The Justice Department is suing the state of California over their “deliberate” attempts to prevent authorities from enforcing immigration laws in the Golden State.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the lawsuit will focus on state laws passed in recent months designed to make it impossible for officials to arrest criminal illegal aliens and deport them out of the United States.

The state of California, Governor Jerry Brown, and state Attorney General Xavier Becerra were all named in the lawsuit.

The laws designed to provide ‘sanctuary’ to illegal immigrants “reflect a deliberate effort by California to obstruct the United States’ enforcement of federal immigration laws,” a court filing revealed.

“The Department of Justice and the Trump administration are going to fight these unjust, unfair and unconstitutional policies that have been imposed on you,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said at a law enforcement event in Sacramento. “I believe that we are going to win.”

California has been acting like a bizarro state for some time, enacting laws and policies completely counter to American values and completely in support of criminal illegal aliens.

Becerra, for instance, announced that his office will prosecute employers – legal, hard-working Americans – should they assist federal authorities in cracking down on illegal immigration.

Meanwhile, leaders like Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf have been warning illegals of impending raids, allowing upwards of 800 criminals – some violent – to escape from ICE.

Governor Brown called the lawsuit a “political stunt,” seemingly unaware of the actions of top authorities in his own state who are pandering to illegals in an effort to get votes.

Brown did his best impersonation of a small child in firing back at Attorney General Sessions.

While California is the first state to be on the receiving end of a lawsuit over ‘sanctuary’ city policies, Sessions indicated others may follow.

And a successful suit could pave the way for other legal recourse.

“We’ve got to start charging some of these politicians with crimes,” acting ICE Director Thomas Homan previously said. “These politicians can’t make these decisions and be held unaccountable for people dying. I mean, we need to hold these politicians accountable for their actions.”

Amen. Here’s to hoping California loses and loses badly.
