The Department of Justice is considering whether or not to pursue obstruction of justice charges for Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf after she warned illegal immigrants of an upcoming ICE raid.
Schaaf, a Democrat – to nobody’s surprise – said earlier this year that she was willing to go to jail in order to protect her city’s sanctuary city policies.
“We’re very clear that our values are to protect all of our residents regardless of where we come from,” she said. “We want to protect families, not tear them apart.”
Over the weekend, Schaaf issued a warning to illegals on Twitter, tipping them off to a pending raid in her city.

A defiant Schaaf said she does “not regret sharing this information,” despite acting ICE Director Thomas Homan acknowledging that her tip led to over 800 criminal illegal immigrants avoiding arrest.
“What she did is no better than a gang lookout yelling ‘police’ when a police cruiser comes in the neighborhood, except she did it to a whole community,” Homan claimed.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson likened Schaaf’s actions to “telling bank robbers the cops are on the way.”
John Yoo, who served in the Bush Justice Department, said “state officers cannot obstruct federal law,” adding that “we had a civil war over this.”

The Department of Justice is now looking into whether or not they can charge Schaaf with obstruction of justice for her reckless behavior.
Homan, told “Fox & Friends” that the DOJ is “reviewing” whether Schaaf broke any laws by warning her constituents of the raid.
The agency’s acting director, Thomas Homan, told “Fox & Friends” Wed morning that the DOJ is “reviewing” whether Schaaf broke any laws by telling her constituents ICE would be raiding the area in order to arrest people violating federal immigration laws.

In an interview with Neil Cavuto in January, Homan said, “We’ve got to take [sanctuary cities] to court, and we’ve got to start charging some of these politicians with crimes.”
In addition, he urged the Department of Justice to “file charges against the sanctuary cities” and “hold back their funding.”
It seems like a no-brainer. Schaaf is now responsible for over 800 criminal illegals roaming the streets in the Bay Area, many of whom had violent backgrounds.
She is now an accessory to their crimes, both past, and future.
