Trump held a press conference early today in the wake of last night’s midterms, and it quickly became a firing line in which Trump roasted the press – especially CNN’s Jim Acosta. When Trump’s favorite punching bag took the mic, and after only getting a few words out, Trump says “here we go…” – and it only goes downhill from there for Acosta, whom Trump eventually brands a “disgrace.”
Acosta tries to hijack Trump’s press event
Acosta began by asking a question about the migrant caravan, and then refused to give up the microphone. “They’re hundreds and hundreds of miles away. That’s not an invasion,” Acosta said, apparently unaware that the migrants are marching in our direction.
Trump fired back, “Honestly, I think you should let me run the country. You run CNN and if you did it well your ratings would do much better.”
A Trump aide then attempted to take Acosta’s mic, which he refused to give up, prompting Trump to let loose. “You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN. The way you treat Sarah Huckabee Sanders is horrible. And the way you treat other people is horrible. You shouldn’t treat people that way.”
And just to pour salt in the wound, Trump again branded the media the “enemy of the people.”
CNN defends Acosta’s antics
The exchange was objectively embarrassing for Acosta, but you can expect the media to still provide cover for him. CNN released a statement making it clear they’re comfortable with their reporters embarrassing themselves on a national stage.

Watch the video above again. Then, look at how NBC attempted to spin the aftermath of the exchange, as Trump’s young female aide attempted to do her job and take Acosta’s mic after he refused to stop talking and sit down.

MSNBC also pushed the same narrative, siding with Acosta rather than the woman struggling to do her job. If a Fox News host attempted to rip a mic back from a Democrat woman’s arms, do you think MSNBC would side with the Fox host?
