Here’s the TRUTH about Trump’s Approval Rating

You should take the polls showing Donald Trump with historically low approval ratings with a grain of salt because the numbers don’t add up. According to Gallup’s daily tracking poll, a record 60 percent of Americans disapprove of the job President Trump is doing – which is significant, because Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama never saw their disapproval ratings that high during their administrations, and George W. Bush didn’t see such disapproval ratings until his handling of Hurricane Katrina.

So what’s off? Remember first that during the entire 2016 election, Gallup’s polling showed that Hillary Clinton would handily defeat Donald Trump.

But the biggest thing that doesn’t add up is how Trump polls among those who voted for him. Surely from all the news about Trump’s historic 60% disapproval rating, he’s losing supporters, right? Nope. Ninety-six percent of Trump supporters say they would vote for him again today. Meanwhile, only 85 percent of Hillary supporters would vote for her again.

So what does this mean? It means that a large chunk of the disapproval comes from Trump’s own supporters who are mad that he isn’t conservative enough in following through with certain key campaign promises, such as healthcare reform, tax reform, and others.

The media could be to blame for a lot of the other disapproval, as the media has been insanely negative toward the president. Studies constantly show that Trump gets more coverage than any other president after taking office – and that over 90 percent of the coverage is negative.

Lastly, remember that the approval rating isn’t of likely voters. Measuring only people who actually vote, Trump is polling normally. Check this out:

President Donald Trump has a 50 percent approval rating among likely voters, according to a poll released Friday by Rasmussen.

This is the first time Trump has hit 50 percent in the poll since late April.

Thirty-one percent of those polled strongly approve of his performance, while 42 percent strongly disapprove. Rasmussen’s findings vary drastically from what Gallup has been showing.

That’s in comparison to a 38 percent approval rating according to Gallup.

Still, Rasmussen was the second most accurate polling firm in the 2016 presidential election. The poll released Friday sampled 500 likely voters and had a margin of error of 2.5 percent.

The highest Rasmussen has measured Trump’s approval is at 59 percent shortly following his inauguration. The lowest was 42 percent approval in early April.
