Lots of people agree: President Donald Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts with North Korea. And on Monday, seven Republican governors joined the growing chorus backing his nomination.
Led by South Carolina Republican Gov. Henry McMaster, the group of governors sent a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee urging it to consider Trump for the 2019 award. “After nearly two decades of gridlock and global anxiety surrounding North Korea’s nuclear program, we are now, at last, on the precipice of peace,” the letter said. “There is but one new variable: President Donald J. Trump and his successful policy of security through strength. There is no one more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize.”
The governors continued, “The president’s firm stance against nuclearization, coupled with his willingness to engage one-on-one with Pyongyang, has succeeded in opening new avenues of cooperation, friendship, and unity between the two Koreas — and the rest of the world.”
Along with McMaster, the letter was signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, Guam Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo, Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, Maine Gov. Paul LePage, and West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice.
Indeed, Trump has achieved something that no other president has, and he’s set to make history again on June 12 when he’ll meet with Kim Jong-un in Singapore. It will be the first time a sitting U.S. president has met with a North Korean leader.
If that’s not enough, last week Trump successfully negotiated for the release of three Americans who had been held captive in North Korea.

Time and time again, Trump continues to come through on his promises and make an unprecedented change not only in America, but the world. If his meeting with Kim Jong-un goes as planned, he should be a shoo-in for the Nobel Peace Prize.
