For years, President-elect Donald J. Trump has been a staunch supporter of Israel, and his latest move confirms that he will stand with America’s most important Middle East ally.

We have just learned that Trump will name David Friedman has his pick to be the United States’ Ambassador to Israel, a move that reaffirms our nation’s support for the Jewish state, and should strengthen our friendship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Friedman is an advocate for Israeli settlements in the West Bank, an issue that President Barack Obama and Netanyahu were at odds over throughout the last several years. Friedman has also supported President-elect Trump’s promise to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a potential move that has liberals panicking.

In recent years, the Obama administration, “strongly condemned Netanyahu’s support for more settlements in the West Bank, arguing that they “seriously undermine the prospects for a two-state solution” a sentiment that Friedman does not share.

From The Daily Caller:

Friedman also previously expressed skepticism of a Palestinian state, saying he questioned the need for it. Friedman also strongly condemned Palestinian leadership in the West Bank. “The Palestinian leadership, including the PA, has undermined any chance for peace with Israel by raising generations of Palestinian children on an educational program of hatred of Israel and Jews,” he wrote in a Nov. 2 statement on the Trump campaign’s behalf.

Friedman’s acceptance statement indicated he too would support the Jerusalem initiative saying, “I intend to work tirelessly to strengthen the unbreakable bond between our two countries and advance the cause of peace within the region, and look forward to doing this from the U.S. embassy in Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem.”

Danny Ayalon, the former Ambassador of the United States from Israel praised the nomination:

Unsurprisingly, liberal Jews, like the president of J Street have come out strongly against Friedman:

Despite what the left says, we need a president, and an ambassador, who will stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel against global threats. Unlike the current administration, President-elect Trump is committed to defending Israel and the nomination of David Friedman confirms that promise.
