One of the highlights of President Donald Trump’s address to Congress in his first joint address was his tribute to the widow of fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens, who died heroically during a raid in Yemen last month.
About halfway through his powerful speech, President Trump told Congress and the American people, “We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens…. Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero – battling against terrorism and securing our nation…. Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity…. For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom — we will never forget him.”

While the majority of attendees during last night’s speech stood up and applauded Ms. Owens, as she can be seen crying and looking up towards heaven, several top Democrats disrespectfully remained seated during the powerful tribute.

There is no excuse for these prominent Democrats to refuse to stand and honor the widow of a fallen Navy SEAL. While America paid tribute to the life of Owens, top Democrats showed how callously political they can be and refused to join our president, and the American people in thanking Owens’ widow for her sacrifice.
