With the announcement that President Trump is winding down Obama’s amnesty program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), the media is once again leading the “resistance” to this policy change with their biased coverage against it.
The MSM is already rallying to the cause and featuring the sob stories of some of the people who could be affected in the most sympathetic light while portraying anyone against DACA as evil and inhumane. It is all meant to tug on the heartstrings and get Americans all riled up to pressure Congress to extend DACA.
Don’t be fooled! The DACA picture is not all valedictorians on track to become brain surgeons while riding unicorns on rainbows like they want you to believe on TV.
In fact, it was just reported a week ago that revocation of DACA status due to criminal and gang activity has gone up 30% under President Trump. That’s thousands of people who were approved under President Obama and shouldn’t have even been in the country.
According to USCIS, “Most DACA terminations were based on the following infractions (not ranked): alien smuggling, assaultive offenses, domestic violence, drug offenses, DUI, larceny and thefts, criminal trespass and burglary, sexual offenses with minors, other sex offenses and weapons offenses.”
There are some horrific examples of DREAMers turning into nightmares. Here are 5 DREAMers who have been charged with or convicted of committing heinous acts that the media doesn’t want to talk about.
Three come from the Daily Caller.
First is Salvador Diaz-Garcia, who allegedly raped a 19-year old woman in Seattle apartment.
Second is Oliver Funes-Machado, who was charged with – I still can’t believe this – “beheading his own mother” back in March. Originally from Honduras, Funes-Machado had DACA status at the time of the crime.
Third is Emmanual Jesus Rangel-Hernandez, who received DACA status despite having drug charges and known gang affiliation. Afterwards, he was charged with four counts of murder.
Senator Grassley highlighted two other egregious cases. The first concerns Edgar Covarrubias-Padilla, who was charged with distributing child pornography. Mr. Covarrubias-Padilla applied for and was granted DACA. He was eventually charged with four felonies, including “possession and distribution of more than 600 child porn images and a charge for lewd and lascivious act with a child under 14.”
It gets worse. According to Senator Grassley, last January Francisco Rios-Covarrubias was charged for the alleged sex trafficking of a 3-yr-old girl in Arizona. Rios-Covarrubias allegedly “duct-taped the girl’s mouth, hands, arms and legs, and confined her to a closet, where she was found covered in human feces.” The police thankfully rescued her. Rios-Covarrubias was eventually charged with four felonies, including “kidnapping, sexual conduct with a minor, felony child abuse, and sex trafficking.”
Rios-Covarrubias was a DACA beneficiary.
I wonder how much that part of the story will be heard amidst all the liberal gnashing of teeth this week over DACA.
Probably none of it. But I can be a dreamer, too.
