Trump Ally Rep. Devin Nunes Resigning To Spearhead Trump’s New Social Media Platform

Representative Devin Nunes has announced he will resign from Congress and spearhead former President Donald Trump's fledgling social media platform company.

Representative Devin Nunes has announced he will resign from Congress and spearhead former President Donald Trump’s fledgling social media platform company.

In January, the California Republican will officially become CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).

Nunes, a 10-term congressman and ally of Trump, told constituents that he is embarking on a “new opportunity to fight for the most important issues I believe in.”

“I’m writing to let you know I’ve decided to pursue this opportunity, and therefore I will be leaving the House of Representatives at the end of 2021.”

Trump, in a statement laid out by the group, praised Nunes, calling him “a fighter and a leader” and predicting he “will make an excellent CEO of TMTG.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) praised Devin Nunes following news that he would resign to join Trump’s social media company.

“There is no better person prepared to compete head-to-head and lead an alternative to the big tech and big media cartel that has carried water for the Democrat Party for years than Devin,” a statement from McCarthy’s office reads.

Still, the timing is more than curious.

Nunes would be next in line to chair the powerful House Ways and Means Committee if Republicans win control of the House in next year’s midterm election.

Ways and Means is the chief tax-writing committee of the United States House of Representatives – the chairman one of the most powerful politicians in the country.

Devin Nunes and Trump have a unique relationship that culminated with the former President awarding him the Medal of Freedom early this year.

Nunes was instrumental in uncovering the deep-seated corruption that took place behind closed doors during the “Russia collusion” probe.

Nunes authored a memo that was released by the House Intelligence Committee in February 2018, which alleged abuses of power by the FBI during its investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

Nunes, according to McCarthy, would ultimately be “proven correct” by the Mueller report, while House Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who provided a counter-memo and repeatedly leaked information to the media, would ultimately be proven wrong.

Trump announced in October that he will launch TRUTH Social, a new social network designed to compete with outlets like Facebook and Twitter and combat the “tyranny of Big Tech.”

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” declared Trump.

The app has begun beta testing and is scheduled for a full nationwide rollout for the first quarter of 2022.

“The time has come to reopen the Internet and allow for the free flow of ideas and expression without censorship,” Nunes announced.
