Trump To Launch ‘TRUTH Social’ Media Network To Fight ‘Tyranny’ of Big Tech

Former President Donald Trump announced that he will launch 'TRUTH Social," a social network designed to combat the "tyranny of Big Tech."

Former President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will launch ‘TRUTH Social,” a new social network designed to compete with outlets like Facebook and Twitter. As Trump relates, it’s meant to combat the “tyranny of Big Tech.”

The app will begin beta testing in November with a full nationwide rollout scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump said in a statement announcing the media creation.

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” he said.

The ‘TRUTH Social’ media network will be part of the newly established Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).

Trump Launches TRUTH Social

Last month, Trump announced his intention to file a lawsuit against Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and search engine Google and their CEO, Sundar Pichai.

Conservatives have argued that the former President’s message and right to free speech have been stifled by the Big Tech companies.

Data indicates his reach was significantly limited by restrictions on – or banning of – his posts.

The former President of the United States, a man who earned 75 million votes in the 2020 election, has been permanently banned from Twitter and de-platformed from Facebook for two years.

YouTube banned Trump in January.

“Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!” Trump said in his statement announcing the launch of ‘TRUTH Social.’

Sues Twitter

President Trump earlier this month filed a motion seeking to have a federal judge force Twitter to reinstate his account.

Twitter, having previously said they would not remove posts from world leaders due to the “newsworthiness” of their comments, blocked Trump’s account nearly 10 months ago.

It would seem he wants it back.

The motion argues that censoring Trump shouldn’t be allowed because the social media platform “exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate.”

It’s curious to see what kind of confidence will be instilled in a new social media network when Trump is still actively trying to gain access to his other accounts.

‘TRUTH Social’ got off to a rocky start after the launch announcement, with Twitter users successfully creating dummy accounts for both Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence despite it still being in beta testing.

Still, the former President is thrilled to announce the launch of ‘TRUTH Social.’

“I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon,” he said. “TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all.”
