MSNBC Says Travel Ban ‘What Osama Bin Laden’ Wanted

Travel ban Osama bin laden

The Supreme Court upheld President Donald Trump’s travel ban yesterday in a 5-4 decision, proving that it was constitutional all along, despite the challenges that left-wing activist judges put in its way. There is a long history of the executive branch having authority to restrict travel into the country, authority that has never been questioned before.

Only because the travel ban was put into effect by Donald Trump, and in part, because it included a number of Muslim majority nations, was the ban attacked as bigoted, or “Islamophobic.” (RELATED: Supreme Court Upholds Trump Travel Ban).

The SCOTUS decision didn’t do much to change liberal minds either about the legitimacy of the ban – with one insane MSNBC commenter going as far as saying that the SCOTUS ruling is “exactly what Osama Bin Laden” would’ve wanted.

According to the Washington Free Beacon: “MSNBC analyst Steve Schmidt reacted to the Supreme Court decision ruling President Donald Trump’s travel ban to be constitutional by saying the president was fulfilling ‘Osama bin Laden’s vision.'”

“Today was a fantastic fulfillment of Osama bin Laden’s vision by Donald J. Trump,” Schmidt said.

Schmidt is a former GOP strategist, who officially left the Republican Party last week “in disgust over the Trump administration’s border policies.” I guess he wasn’t paying attention to Trump’s border policies until last week? Also, the fact that such an insanely idiotic comment came from a Republican strategist serves as a reminder that every person identified as a “Republican” on a network like MSNBC or CNN should have an asterisk next to it.

“What Osama bin Laden hoped to provoke was a war of civilization. A war between the West and one billion Muslims. And so what Donald Trump and this Muslim ban signal to the world is that Muslims are not welcome here,” Schmidt said.

Just to serve as a reminder, the nations affected by the Trump travel ban are Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, North Korea, and Venezuela. Those nations contain only 5% of the world’s Muslim population.

Not only that, the list of nations identified in Trump’s travel ban is derived from a law Obama signed back in December of 2015. The 2015 Obama-era law restricted travel to the U.S. among those who lived in or visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria since March 2011. The law was later expanded to cover Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. The nations that Trump added to the list for his travel ban were North Korea, and Venezuela.

In other words, every single Muslim country affected by the Trump travel ban is due to Obama-era policies.

Despite Schmidt’s over-the-top comments, it’s unlikely that MSNBC will punish him at all.
