I don’t care if Sen. Ted Cruz is doing this to win his re-election in 2018, America needs him and more like him right now to turn back these Democrat Senators who are trying to slow down President Trump’s agenda.
The U.S. Supreme Court has a vacancy and President Trump needs to fill the seat to get business moving again. Trump has someone in mind and the Republicans can get this done – if they enact the “nuclear option.” That refers to the rules changes Democrats made when they had the majority that allows for only 51 votes to move on with some types of Senate business instead of the customary 60 votes.
The Democrats are the ones who changed the rules, and now they’re regretting it. Well, that’s spilled milk and what’s done is done.
So here comes Ted Cruz!

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) said Republicans should fight to get President Trump’s coming Supreme Court nominee confirmed by any means necessary.
Trump has said he will be announcing his choice to fill the late Antonin Scalia’s seat on the bench next week.
Republicans will need at least eight Democrats to support Trump’s nominee to overcome the 60-vote filibuster hurdle. But Cruz suggested the GOP shouldn’t rule out the so-called “nuclear option” to reduce the threshold to a majority. The move would be a gamble, setting a precedent that could weaken the GOP’s position if Democrats come back into power.
What I like most in this interview is this new attitude I feel Cruz has toward these Democrats, and he’s also taking a more forceful stand against Republicans who might want to hide behind their liberal friends.
“I think we should do whatever it takes to get him confirmed,” the former presidential candidate said on Fox News’ “Hannity” Tuesday night.
Cruz also praised Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for the position he has taken as Democrats threaten to block a Trump nominee.
I don’t know how much I would praise McConnell. He was part of the devilish duo that also included John Boehner. Both of them allowed Democrats to run roughshod as they put up token disapprovals. What Reid did when he was in power to push the liberal agenda is unforgivable.
In 2013, Democrats, who at the time held the majority in the Senate, triggered the nuclear option in order to confirm several of President Obama’s nominees. The move did not apply to the Supreme Court.
New Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said recently he regrets Democrats’ 2013 decision, which is now easing the confirmation of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees.
It’s too late for Schumer to regret anything. If he had fought this when Democrats did it I might believe him, but he’s just talking words right now and it’s really painful to hear these whiny tissue-paper feelings. Democrats are not to be trusted. They want to destroy Republicans, and that’s why I am happy Cruz has turned that corner.
It’s time for the Republicans to stop playing and hold their feet to the fire. Shut them down like they did us, and never look back.
