Female Republicans Face Vicious Threats, Extortion, Before Kavanaugh Confirmation Vote

There’s a 100% chance that Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed as the next justice to serve on the Supreme Court (absent an act of God), but that doesn’t mean liberals aren’t willing to go down without a fight.

But given the inevitability of their defeat, they’re resorting to the most disturbing tactics available. The constant interruptions that Kavanaugh faced during his hearings from protesters (hundreds of which were arrested) and the theatrics he endured from Kamala Harris and Cory Booker were tame compared to what the Republicans who will be voting to confirm Kavanaugh are facing. And despite championing themselves as the party of women, it’s female Republican legislators facing the most disturbing threats. Moderate Republican Susan Collins has been a main target. A group called Mainers for Accountable Leadership started a fund to fund her opponent in the event that she votes in favor of confirming Kavanaugh. So far, they’ve raised over $1.1 million.

“If you fail to stand up for the people of Maine and for Americans across the country, every dollar donated to this campaign will go to your eventual Democratic opponent in 2020. We will get you out of office. The people of Maine have made it clear that they want you to vote NO on Kavanaugh, and we’re counting on you to do the right thing,” their fundraiser reads. While it reads like a threat, in reality this resembles a form of bribery.

It was also accompanied by a video featuring all your typical liberal hysterics. One woman claims that a vote for Kavanaugh is “a vote to kill her.”

And the hysterics have been translating into threats against much more than just Collins’ political careers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, “another pressure tactic, one Ms. Collins says she finds incredibly offensive, is ‘the out-of-state voicemails being left on the answering machines of my state offices.’ Many of the messages are profane. ‘In one case—and we are going to turn this over to the police, but unfortunately, of course, the person didn’t leave a name or number—but they actually threatened to rape one of my young female staffers.’ The Senator’s office also has been receiving coat hangers in the mail, a grisly attempt to insinuate that a Justice Kavanaugh would somehow outlaw abortion. About 3,000 have arrived so far. ‘I am pleased to say,’ Ms. Collins says with a small chuckle, ‘we had a group that has a thrift shop that helps low-income women ask us for 300 of the hangers. So at least 300 of them have gone to a very good cause.'”

And those donations raised from Mainers for Accountable Leadership? “I have had three attorneys tell me that they think it is a clear violation of the federal law on bribery,” Collins said. “Actually, two told me that; one told me it’s extortion.”

So, both those extorting her and those threatening her are opening themselves up for legal action to be taken against them.

But of course, MSNBC found a way to defend all this:

And Maine Democrats defended the potentially illegal fundraiser to pressure Collins:

Months ago Maxine Waters encouraged liberals to harass and threaten anyone even marginally associated with Donald Trump, and given the way Collins has been treated, no shortage of leftists have followed through with that.
