Among my least favorite parts of being active on Twitter is learning just how dumb many of the celebrities I grew up reading, watching, and listening to, are.
Who could forget the lengthy list of celebrities threatening to leave the country in the event of a Trump victory? Among them were Cher, Miley Cyrus, Lena Dunham, Barbara Streisand, Amy Schumer, Samuel L. Jackson, and many others. I think many of us were disappointed that they didn’t actually leave after hearing their clueless opinions all throughout the election cycle.
What’s even stranger is the so-called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” that many celebs seem to have. Take Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who spends her days tweeting as if she was sent by God to document the horrors of the Trump presidency.
I suppose that’s to be expected from a woman who made her billions specializing in fiction.
Another one of the crazies is horror author Stephen King, who actually enjoys being blocked by Trump on Twitter. J.K. Rowling came to the rescue on that front.
Trump has blocked me from reading his tweets. I may have to kill myself.

I still have access. I'll DM them to you. https://t.co/MhibEYDBTg

Months later, as the movie adaptation of his horror novel “It” is about to hit the screen, King is banning Trump from seeing it, apparently under the impression that doing so is within his power.
Donald Trump blocked me on Twitter. I am hereby blocking him from seeing IT or MR. MERCEDES. No clowns for you, Donald. Go float yourself.

Can you even imagine why King thinks he could possibly block a sitting president from viewing his movie? Personally, I can’t help but chuckle at the thought of a teenage cashier at a local movie theater informing Trump that he’s been banned by Steven King from seeing his movies.
Obviously this is just a publicity stunt, unless King actually is insane. But there is something good about it: Those sick of Hollywood shoving their political opinions down their throats are now launching a boycott. A thread went up on the massively popular subreddit “/r/The_Donald” urging its 500,000 subscribers to boycott the film.
The thread received over 300 comments, and 4,000 upvotes.
- “Okay, Everyone. Please DO NOT go see Stephen King’s new ‘IT’ movie this weekend when it opens. If you have to see it, wait till after opening weekend so he has a lousy showing this week. Trump stands up for us, so we should stand up for him!” That was the title of a post put up this week, and it drew more than 300 comments.
- “Keep your idiot politics to yourself. I go to see a movie to relax, not to constantly get made fun of for being conservative. You say you don’t want Trump supporters’ money? We’ll see…” one redditor wrote.
- “Seriously? Is Stephen Kink delusional that with everything going on that Trump has even considered going to see IT? This is ego out of control. The real Clown is King,” wrote another.
- “Not only this weekend, but never. I don’t need to fill my mind with their messages in their movies, and not a dime of mine will go to people who trash my president and my country,” said a third.

Will you be seeing “It”?
I may have to wait until I can borrow a copy on DVD.
