Stephen Colbert must have been particularly desperate for material on his show Monday night, as he focused on President Donald Trump even more than usual.
The late-night comedian started by going after Trump for his negotiations to get funding for a border wall between the United States and Mexico.
Colbert mockingly said the president is willing to do “whatever it takes” to get funding for the wall, including “pouting, threatening, holding his breath until he turns blue, which would be a more natural color.”
Colbert later added that by making a deal to temporarily reopen the government, the president has lost negotiating power in the future.
“When asked if he would accept less than $5.7 billion for his wall, Trump said, ‘I doubt it,'” said Colbert.
“Billionaires need to find new hobbies. They need new hobbies. I tell you what: Can’t Richard Branson just build a day camp for these guys to keep them off the streets?”
The comedian added, “So, he’s making the exact same offer, backed by the exact same threat, but somehow he expects different results. Well, you know what they say: ‘The definition of insanity is Donald Trump.'”

Colbert later talked about the 2020 presidential election and said he would prefer if other billionaires did not run against Trump, specifically referring to former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. The businessman recently said he was considering a presidential run.
Colbert joked that billionaire Richard Branson should build a camp for billionaires thinking of running for president.
“I gotta say, to all billionaires threatening to run for president: No, thanks, we’re too full for seconds. Billionaires need to find new hobbies. They need new hobbies. I tell you what: Can’t Richard Branson just build a day camp for these guys to keep them off the streets?”
