The St. Louis Cardinals have resisted caving to pressure from intolerant LGBT activists, committing to a ‘Christian Day‘ celebration in late July.
The day will feature guest speaker Lance Berkman, a former Cardinals All-Star Outfielder and 2011 World Series Champion, who will discuss how Christianity has played a role in his life.
Naturally, liberals did their best to shut him, and the entire Christian Day celebration, down.
The Pride Center of St. Louis blasted the decision and called Berkman “an individual whose words and actions towards the LGBT (community) are divisive and demeaning.”
The main point of contention involves Berkman’s opposition to transgender bathroom access.

The St. Louis Cardinals resolved to host Lance Berkman as their “Christian Day” speaker, despite outcry from the LGBTQ community.
St. Louis Pride, an LGBTQ organization, protested the Cardinals’ decision to host Berkman and demanded that the Cardinals cancel his appearance at their annual Christian Day, a post-game event where a public figure, usually a former player as in Berkman’s case, speaks about how Christianity has affected their life.
Berkman drew criticism from the LGBTQ community in 2015 and has been lambasted as a homophobe over his opposition to a Houston city ordinance that would allow transgender people access to bathrooms opposite their biological gender.
A little over one month into his presidency, Donald Trump revoked one of the LGBT community’s and Barack Obama’s proudest achievements – transgender bathroom access.

Schilling is dead on.
What’s particularly rich is that the Pride Center wants to help the Cardinals celebrate Pride Night at the stadium.
“We want to extend an offer to help them by co-organizing their official LGBT Pride Night at Busch Stadium,” they said. “Let’s work together to promote love, diversity, and inclusion.”
Just not inclusion for Christians.

The Cardinals have hosted a Christian Day at the ballpark for nearly three decades. The post-game event usually features a well-known keynote speaker (often a former Cardinal or professional athlete) who talks about his or her experience of being a practicing Christian in the public arena. Lance Berkman participated in Christian Day when he was a Cardinals player, and we welcome him back this year to discuss his faith.
As an organization, the Cardinals have always been committed to bringing like-minded groups together to share in the unifying experience of Cardinals baseball. We are an inclusive organization with a social responsibility to be welcoming to all types of people and organizations. We continue to try and reach out to every part of our community, and have hosted a variety of themed events like Christian Day, Jewish Community Night, Catholic Family Night, Bosnian Heritage Night, Fiesta Cardenales, and many others. We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our first Pride Night later this season (details to follow shortly) which will bring members of the LGBT Community together to enjoy Cardinals baseball.
