Sometimes technology can be a truly wonderful thing.

Such is the case of one Brooks Lindsey, a member of the 2nd Battalion, 114th Field Artillery Regiment, who was frantically racing to get to his home in Mississippi so he could witness the birth of his daughter.

Unfortunately, Lindsey got stuck at an airport in El Paso, Texas when his flight was delayed for several hours.

So, he and his wife made do with what resources they had available to them, using FaceTime so he could watch his daughter come into the world through his cell phone!

A fellow traveler at the airport captured video of Lindsey watching the event take place on his phone. The facial expressions are simply priceless.

At one point, the couple was trying to determine how he could get on his delayed flight, land, and still get there on time.

“Don’t let him board the flight! She’s here! She’s here!” the doctor screamed according to Haley Lindsey, Brooks’ wife.

Tracy Dover captured an image of the Army soldier sitting on the floor of the airport, watching the incredible moment his daughter, Millie, came into the world.

“This Army soldier was on my delayed flight home yesterday to MS,” she wrote. “He had to watch the birth of his daughter on FaceTime. He was crying and our hearts were breaking. We all gave him space. When we heard the baby cry, we all rejoiced for him. I wanted to share this because I never want us to forget about our soldiers who serve us every day and the sacrifices they make.”

Well said.

“I could hear people in the airport talking and cheering!” Haley said. Brooks shared the video with his fellow passengers on the flight home who were also “cheering and watching.”

“I have the sweetest messages and I also have other military wives and mothers messaging me,” she wrote in a post on Love What Matters.

“We had random people bringing gifts to our rooms and nurses coming in and thanking Brooks for his service!” Haley said. “It has been an amazing, emotional time full of so much support!”

We’d like to thank him for his service too … not to mention the funny and sweet video memory to enjoy!
