Last month, a bombshell report revealed that an early draft of former FBI Director James Comey’s final statement on the Hillary Clinton email case accused Clinton of being “grossly negligent” in handling classified information.
On Thursday, Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson released more copies of the edits from the draft, which show that the FBI had initially determined that it was “reasonably likely” Clinton’s email server had been hacked by hostile foreign actors. However, when Comey read his statement exonerating Clinton in July 2016, he said that it was only “possible” her email had been hacked.
In reaction to this latest revelation, Fox News host Sean Hannity proclaimed that “Comey should go to jail.”
“All of this continues to prove that the fix was in from the very beginning of what is a farce of an investigation,” Hannity said. “This is beyond outrageous, and it shows that there is a different set of rules and standards for the Clintons and their allies. It is all part of a pattern when it comes to the Clintons. The fix is in all the time.”
Clinton was let off the hook for “purely political motives in the face of overwhelming evidence of criminality,” Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett added. “Comey initially wrote in his exoneration paper that the sheer volume of classified documents on Clinton server is evidence of criminality. And somebody removed that from the statement in clearing Hillary Clinton.”
As we now know, the person who made the edits was in fact former FBI agent Peter Strzok, who was removed from the Trump-Russia probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller after he was caught exchanging anti-Trump text messages with his mistress.
Clearly, when it comes to the deep state, the FBI runs the deepest of them all – and someone needs to be held accountable.
