Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed President Biden’s newly-announced Disinformation Governance Board, calling it the “Ministry of Truth.”
He also vowed to fight the administration on their dystopian attempt at controlling information in America.
“You cannot have a Ministry of Truth in this country. We’re not going to let Biden get away with this one. So we will be fighting back,” he told reporters at a press conference Friday.
“When you’re not doing well, you have two options: You can try to do better. Or you can try to silence your critics. [Biden] is doing the latter,” he claimed.
The ‘Ministry of Truth’ is a reference to George Orwell’s classic novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four, where the department is responsible for propaganda, historical revisionism, culture, and entertainment.
The Biden Administration’s creation of a “disinformation” bureau within DHS is effectively a Ministry of Truth that is alien to our constitutional tradition.

DeSantis Vows to Fight Biden’s ‘Ministry of Truth’
The Political Insider reported last week that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had set up a new Disinformation Governance Board that, according to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, will “address this threat (of misinformation).”
Many conservatives and Republicans criticized the board as a means to control information negatively reflecting on the President and his administration.
Those fears were made more prominent when it was revealed that the board would be headed by Nina Jankowicz, a woman who spread disinformation about Hunter Biden’s laptop – part of a media orchestrated campaign to control the narrative and aid Biden in the election.
Jankowicz parroted Biden during the presidential debates when he said roughly 50 former national intelligence officials in the weeks leading up to the election claimed the laptop was “a Russian smear campaign.”
Those claims were unfounded, immediately refuted by then-DNI John Ratcliffe, and ultimately proven untrue.
Back on the “laptop from hell,” apparently- Biden notes 50 former natsec officials and 5 former CIA heads that believe the laptop is a Russian influence op.

Jankowicz would later falsely claim that the Hunter Biden laptop was “a Trump campaign product.”
The laptop has since been authenticated by several major media outlets including the New York Times and Washington Post.
The Biden administration’s new Executive Director of the Disinformation Governance Board, Nina Jankowicz, cast doubt that the Hunter Biden laptop, confirmed to be real by multiple outlets, actually belonged to him.
She called it “a Trump campaign product.”

Want to Control the Information
DeSantis continued to rail against the ‘Ministry of Truth’ saying the Biden administration is interested solely in controlling the media and what information gets out to the public.
“What they want to do is, they want to be able to put out false narratives without people being able to speak out and fight back,” he explained.
“They want to be able to say things like ‘Russia collusion’ and perpetuate hoaxes and then have people like us be silenced,” continued DeSantis.

“They want to be able to advocate for COVID lockdowns. They want to be able to advocate for school closures, things that are not supported by the evidence.”

DeSantis also suggested the Disinformation Governance Board is being set up to cover for Biden’s many failures – from gas prices to inflation.
“Look they’re not exactly on a winning streak, right? I mean they’ve got a lot of problems,” he told reporters. “They’ve fueled a nasty inflation. You look at gas prices … way higher than it was just a year, year-and-a-half ago.
“They’ve printed so much money that you have massive inflation – 8.5 percent – but that’s understating it because most of the things that matter have gone up way more than,” he added. “You’re floundering on the world stage.”
