Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. The Rock got his start in the WWE and quickly transitioned to box office superstar with such films as The Scorpion King, the Fast and the Furious franchise, and the upcoming Baywatch movie.
Up until now, The Rock has focused mainly on entertaining his millions of fans worldwide, but could “The People’s Champion” be jumping into a new ring: the political arena?
Well, in a new interview with GQ, The Rock hinted that “it’s a real possibility” that he may run for president in the future, although he declined to say when that day might be.

From the GQ interview:
I feel like I’m in a position now where my word carries a lot of weight and influence, which of course is why they want the endorsement. But I also have a tremendous amount of respect for the process and felt like if I did share my political views publicly, a few things would happen….I felt like it would either (a) make people unhappy with the thought of whatever my political view was. And, also, it might sway an opinion, which I didn’t want to do.
In the past, Johnson has made it clear he loves America and is passionate about politics, telling Reuters, “I love my country, I’m extremely patriotic and I also feel, especially now, leadership is so important, great leadership is so important, respected leadership is so important.”
In the interview, The Rock said that both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump had sought his endorsement in 2016, but he declined to weigh in on the election publicly.
While The Rock has made no indication of when, if ever, he would ever run for president, one far-left figure, director Michael Moore, suggested he run in 2020 against President Trump.
Speaking with Variety, the far-left filmmaker explained his bizarre rationale:
Run the Rock! Run the Rock. Who do you want for commander in chief? I want the f—ing Rock! It would scare anybody that would hurt us. Think about how safe we would be if the Rock was president. Not Vin Diesel! The Rock. Or Liam Neeson, but Liam Neeson can’t run because our Constitution says you have to be born here. So who’s the American Liam Neeson that we could run? Because nobody would f— with him.
Moore believes that the Democrats need to run some sort of celebrity against Trump in 2020, arguing “One things the Democrats didn’t understands is that Trump is a beloved TV star. I’ve had this question now for almost 20 years — Why don’t the Democrats run Tom Hanks? Why doesn’t Oprah run? Why don’t we run someone that’s beloved by the American people?”
No one truly knows what The Rock’s political views are, but if he ran for president, it would certainly garner a lot of attention. The fact that a prominent Democrat is pushing for The Rock to challenge President Trump shows just how weak their 2020 bench is.
While most people don’t know much about The Rock’s political views, he is a registered Republican, and was even featured on the cover of National Review. He also spoke at the 2000 Republican National Convention.
