Rick Perry Has Our Backs When It Comes to Defending Our Families – WATCH!

Former Texas Governor Rick Perry has responded to the horrific theater shooting in Lafayette, Louisiana by laying blame for such massacres exactly where it belongs – liberal gun-free zones.

Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union, Perry started off with what could be considered an understatement to common sense Second Amendment supporters – gun free zones are a “bad idea.”

Perry added that it’s time to send a message to would-be mass killers in this country that people have the “right to protect themselves and defend themselves, and their families.”

Rick Perry believes Thursday night’s movie theater shooting in Lafayette, La., shows why gun-free zones are “a bad idea,” in an interview with CNN’s State of the Union and said it “makes a lot of sense” to allow guns in movie theaters.

“I think that you allow the citizens of this country, who have been appropriately trained, appropriately backgrounded, know how to use firearms, to carry them,” Perry told host Jake Tapper. “If we believe in the second amendment and if we believe in people’s rights to protect themselves and their families—to tell them they cannot carry a weapon that they are legally obliged to carry, that they have been through the training for, makes no sense to me.”

Reports have surfaced that during the Chattanooga shooting at a military recruitment center (it too a gun-free zone), at least two service members – a Navy officer and a Marine somehow engaged the terrorist shooter using their own weapons. While an autopsy result will be necessary to confirm if they successfully hit the shooter, it seems quite clear that they may have at the very least stalled what could have been an even bigger tragedy.

Perry is right – guns don’t kill people, gun control kills people. Perhaps there is no better proof of this than this news report regarding a horrific shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin two years ago.

Tucked away in that news report was this statement, and I quote:

“The dead included temple President Satwant Singh Kaleka, who was shot as he tried to fend off the shooter with a butter knife.”

Incredible.

Mass shootings are predictably occurring with greater frequency in gun-free zones such as schools, theaters, and military recruitment centers. The only people paying attention to the gun-free rules are good, law-abiding citizens. And they’re getting killed because liberals would rather have you show up to a gun fight with a knife.

Do you agree with Governor Perry? Should citizens be able to defend themselves in public places such as the Lafayette theater?
