Republicans Show Massive Gains in Registration Ahead of 2018 Elections

Barack Obama set an economic record during his presidency, and it’s one no president would ever want. Upon leaving office, he was the first president since Herbert Hoover (who presided over the beginning of the Great Depression) to never see a year with three percent average GDP growth.

The weak economy was, of course, just one negative aspect of Obama’s presidency. Many also weren’t happy that when it came to foreign policy, the man’s idea of victory was giving up and going home. When ISIS quickly came to rise in the Middle East following our withdraw from Iraq, ISIS became a threat that Obama wouldn’t even call by name. According to U.S. Air Force pilots, Obama blocked an astounding 75 percent of anti-ISIS airstrikes requested. Monthly drone strikes have since quadrupled under Trump, and roughly a third of all territory reclaimed from ISIS has happened under the Trump presidency.

The economy and foreign policy are just two issues I’ve chosen to select, and while the average voter has other concerns, they’re clearly concerns they believe are in better hands with Republicans. Under Obama’s watch, Democrats suffered a net loss of 1,042 seats at the federal and state level. Not only that, West Virginia’s governor Jim Justice announced his switch from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party back in August. Even when Democrats aren’t running in elections, they’re losing!

And speaking of elections, how would President Donald Trump do if another were held today? We’re constantly hearing about his low poll numbers from the same pollsters who predicted a blowout for Hillary Clinton. While it’s hardly the only factor that goes into predicting the results of an election, voter registration trends can have some predictive power. And those, according to Big League Politics, greatly favored Trump and Republicans at large.

A handful of states (MI, WI, OH, MN, VA, GA, and TX) don’t track registration by party affiliation, so they won’t be included on the following list. As for the rest:

  • Arizona: Republicans net +11,314.
  • Florida: Republicans net +55,498
  • Indiana: Republicans net + 14,363
  • Maine: Republicans net +1,201
  • North Carolina: Republicans net +60,918
  • New Hampshire: Republicans net +6,511
  • New Jersey: Republicans net +22,351
  • New Mexico: Republicans net +12,810
  • Nevada: Republicans net +19,799
  • Pennsylvania: Republicans net +101,000

And of course, there are some states where Democrats saw their ranks grow, but not by numbers this big. Colorado saw a net gain of just twenty registered Democrats! Delaware, meanwhile, gained only 365 Democrats.

Despite the propaganda you hear about Trump’s allegedly low poll numbers, they don’t appear to be turning people off from the Republican Party.

Just the opposite seems to be the case.

Share this story with others to show them that Republicans are making big gains across the country!
