Trump Has Replacement For Ruth Bader Ginsburg Picked Out

President Trump is reportedly ‘saving’ Judge Amy Coney Barrett, a staunch conservative, as his replacement pick in the event that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat becomes available.

Barrett had been rumored to be a top pick to replace former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, prior to Brett Kavanaugh getting the nod.

Barrett was added to the list of potential Supreme Court nominees that President Trump has vowed to select from should a vacancy arise.

“In choosing a new Justice, I will select someone with impeccable credentials, great intellect, unbiased judgment, and deep reverence for the laws and Constitution of the United States,” Trump announced.

Axios cites multiple sources saying Trump, while considering Kennedy’s replacement, had said he was “saving [Barrett] for Ginsburg.”

According to the report, the statement was made just two days before the Kavanaugh announcement.

Why He Waited

Several sources have indicated Barrett is a ‘favorite’ to be chosen if Ginsburg’s seat were to open up. But why wait until then?

Some are speculating that in order to replace a female Supreme Court Justice, the President would be wise to choose a female to step into the role.

Advisers though, worried at the time that Barrett’s strong pro-life position would alienate moderates such as Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).

If the Kavanaugh hearings were any indication, a contentious fight over abortion rights will play out no matter who Trump selects for the Supreme Court. It won’t matter when it happens – Democrats will fight kicking and screaming to prevent it.

Democrats Despise Her Religious Background

President Trump appointed Barrett to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in 2017, but not without a thorough grilling by Democrats on her religious background.

Because people of faith are frowned upon in the resistance party.

Supporters of the judge called Democrat opposition “unfair criticisms” about her faith.

“The dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s of concern,” California Senator Dianne Feinstein said to Barrett.

Catholic League President Bill Donohue railed against Feinstein and Senator Dick Durbin over their “anti-Catholic bias” during the proceedings, charging they should recuse themselves should Barrett be nominated to the Supreme Court.

“Not to do so would be intellectually dishonest and patently unfair to Judge Barrett,” Donohue said.

According to the Axios report, Barrett is a favorite of Trump’s because she “embraces her Catholic faith,” has been open to “overturning Roe v. Wade,” and “her nomination would throw gas on the culture-war fires,” something they claim the President enjoys.

Barrett’s devout Catholicism would no doubt be a big issue among bigoted Democrats.

Meanwhile, Ginsburg has indicated no intentions of retiring until Trump leaves office, and her health has been improving after a few scares over the last several months.
