According to a new book, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly was so afraid Donald Trump would launch nuclear weapons in his final days that she demanded assurances from the nation’s top military officer General Mark Milley, a revelation which prompted the former President to label her a “known nut job.”
The Washington Post reports that journalists Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, authors of the book, “I Alone Can Fix It,” have relayed a conversation Pelosi reportedly had with Gen. Mark Milley following the Capitol protest.
The book also makes eyebrow-raising claims about comments Milley made about Trump in the aftermath of the election.
“This guy’s crazy,” Pelosi told Milley. “He’s dangerous. He’s a maniac.”
Milley replied, “Ma’am, I guarantee you that we have checks and balances in the system.”

Pelosi Feared Trump Would Use Nuclear Weapons
Remarkably, Milley, the book claims, had compared Trump’s complaints of election fraud and the protests that resulted from those objections to the rise of Adolf Hitler.
“This is a Reichstag moment,” Milley allegedly told aides. “The gospel of the Führer.”
Keep in mind, Milley is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“This is a Reichstag moment,” Milley told aides, according to the book… Milley told aides he feared it “could be the modern American equivalent of ‘brownshirts in the streets.'” It doesn’t get much more serious than this. https://t.co/FS3s6fiLwg

Pelosi (D-CA) admitted within days of the Capitol incident that a conversation took place between her and General Milley shortly after regarding nuclear weapons.
Pelosi said she spoke with Milley about “available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike.”
“The situation of this unhinged President could not be more dangerous,” she warned, “and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy.”
Pelosi engaging in a conspiracy theory that Trump might launch a nuclear strike because he doubted the election results and Milley dabbling in Nazi Germany comparisons is a level of buffoonery that would likely make Qanon followers blush.

Trump Responds To ‘Known Nut Job’ Pelosi
Trump responded to the allegations in his classic fashion.
“Nancy Pelosi is a known nut-job,” he said in a statement.
“Her enraged quotes that she was afraid that I would use nuclear weapons is just more of the same,” he said, pointing out that he was an anti-war President.
“In fact, I was the one that got us out of wars, not into wars,” he continued. “And I was the one who got respect for our Country again, not like now when the leaders of the entire World are laughing at us.”
This is batshit crazy level stuff from Milley. First, he had zero authority over who Trump fired/appointed at CIA. Then he’s in cahoots with Pelosi to spin “insurrection” farce. And he admits he’s gleeful Biden won.
And Trump supporters are “Nazis?”

There is little reason to doubt Pelosi made the comments quoted in the book during her conversation with Milley.
She admitted the discussion took place for one, while the Defense Department lived up to their namesake, running defense for the House Speaker by refusing to respond to an FOIA request seeking all documents related to the call, including transcripts and recordings.
“If Speaker Pelosi’s description of her conversation with General Milley is true, it sets a dangerous precedent that could undermine the president’s role as commander in chief and the separation of powers,” (3/3). https://t.co/yfWSaGIkNU

Furthermore, dozens of House Democrats called on President Biden to relinquish sole control over the country’s nuclear arsenal and the ability to launch a strike using those weapons.
But in doing so, they clearly had an eye on Trump.
“Past presidents have threatened to attack other countries with nuclear weapons or exhibited behavior that caused other officials to express concern about the president’s judgment,” they said in a letter to Biden.
The footnotes in the letter also reference an alleged “threat” to nuke North Korea by Trump.

Milley, now chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Biden, made news recently by defending critical race theory training in the military and claiming Trump supporters involved in the Capitol protest were filled with “white rage.”
“I want to understand white rage, and I’m white,” Milley stated during a House Armed Service Committee hearing last month.
The general’s comments regarding ‘white rage’ implied he believes that was the root cause of the events on January 6th.

Milley’s comments about the overblown severity of the one-time incident at the Capitol, combined with his remarks equating Trump to the second coming of Hitler, make him a slightly less hysterical version of AOC.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson said previously, “He’s not just a pig, he’s stupid.”
The book is set to be released on Tuesday.
