Report: Moderate House Dems Starting To Get ‘Cold Feet’ Over Impeachment Proceedings

Public opinion is souring on Democrat-led impeachment efforts against President Trump

On Sunday, Washington Post reporter Rachel Bade told CNN, who probably wasn’t looking to hear this news, how she and her colleagues are hearing “behind the scenes” that a growing number of House Democrats are starting to “get cold feet” on moving forward with impeaching Trump.

According to YouGov, after the first week of public impeachment hearings, support for impeaching Trump was down four points.

Another YouGov survey saw an eight-point approval swing in the positive for Trump.

Here’s the issue. Will Democratic leaders continue to pursue impeachment, even if public opinion is cutting against them?

Some of those Democrats raised their concerns with party leaders this week as they prepared to leave for Thanksgiving recess, fearing that voters will be bombarded by anti-impeachment ads as families gather around the TV for parades and football, according to multiple lawmakers and aides.

Meanwhile, swing-district Democrats are receiving little reinforcement from their own party or even other liberal coalitions. Democratic and pro-impeachment groups have spent about $2.7 million in TV ads, according to an analysis of spending by the ad tracking firm Advertising Analytics. And more than $600,000 of that total went to ads targeting Republican incumbents, not helping vulnerable Democratic members.

“Many of us have been expressing our concerns to leadership,” said a Democratic lawmaker said, who declined to be named in order to speak candidly about strategy. “You don’t want to have to play catch up.”

“Everyone knows you don’t just take a shot and sit there,” the lawmaker said. “It’s like someone taped our arms to our side and punched us in the face.” [Politico]

I have been trying to tell the Trump Bashers for weeks that they have nothing and that it is going nowhere, but their delusions are fixed and refuse to accept what is in front of them. They continue to believe every word from the fake news.

Impeachment ‘Is Not the Soap Opera Americans Want to Watch’

This President was elected because he did not fit the Washington D.C. mold of business as usual. Hell, he broke the mold. The “quid pro quo” materialized out of the Washington miasma, conjured-up by the necromancers religiously chanting to maintain the “status quo.”

The public hasn’t lost enthusiasm for impeachment; the public never really had it to lose. This mantra has become like elevator music. After a while, you don’t hear it and pay attention anymore. As more information becomes available, the charlatans who have been running this government and our lives will have a lot to answer for. I can’t wait for the House vote to impeach, and the Senate trial. Get all the witnesses up before the Judiciary committee.

Let’s see how all that wrings out.

I think some of us feel apathetic and feel that we have lost our voice. We are disgusted with the bipartisanship and disappointed in what we are seeing within the Republican Party. They are not standing up for the Constitution of the United States. They seem to be telling us that Trump and his cronies are above the law and they are more interested in their own reelection than standing up for the people of the United States that they were elected to represent. They are also failing the United States and its allies across the world and setting us up for a rapid decline. On the flip side, the forthcoming elections may surprise everyone if people decide to get out there and vote these people out.

Remember, we can fire them all in November and hire a new group who will lie, cheat, and steal from us for their power, financial gain, and notoriety.
