According to a Republican Congresswoman, Florida Rep. Kat Cammack, images have surfaced of pallets of baby formula being delivered to illegal immigrants amid a baby formula shortage felt by Americans nationwide.

So sorry, brand new mama’s out there; you have to deal with rationing and the stress of possibly not feeding your baby while those who break our immigration laws get it for free.

Free Formula For Them, No Formula For You

Republican Representative Kat Cammack claimed she received photos from a border patrol agent of pallets of baby formula that are currently at one of the facilities in Texas that hold illegal immigrants.

Cammack posted a picture showing the pallets next to an image of empty store shelves in her district with the following:

“They are sending pallets, pallets of baby formula to the border. Meanwhile, in our own district at home, we cannot find baby formula.”

Cammack told the Examiner that the agent told her, “Kat, you would not believe the shipment I just brought in.”

She also told the Examiner’s Paul Bedard, “I don’t know about you, but if I am a mother, anywhere anytime in America, and I go to my local Walmart or Target or Publix or Safeway or Kroger or wherever it may be that you shop and you are seeing their shelves and you are seeing signs that you are not able to get baby formula. And then you see the American government sending by the pallet thousands and thousands of containers of baby formula to the border, that would make my blood boil,” she said.

A Top Priority?

The White House claims that alleviating the baby formula shortage is a “top priority” for President Biden. It’s hard to believe when all I’ve heard the President this week do is label people “Ultra MAGA,” which sounds like a giant reptile villain from those old Godzilla movies.

Regarding the baby formula shortage, CEO of Datasembly Ben Reich said:

“This issue has been compounded by supply chain challenges, product recalls and historic inflation. The category started to see stocking challenges beginning in July 2021, and the situation has continued to worsen into 2022.”

Let that sink in for a second, July 2021. This is just now a priority for the President. What exactly have they been doing since July?

Democratic Representative Rosa L. DeLaura threw shade at the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for reacting “too slowly” to a whistleblower who reported issues with the Abbott facility back in October of last year.

The FDA didn’t physically inspect the facility until the end of January. So it doesn’t appear that the FDA has been doing much, along with the President.

Today the President is meeting with manufacturers to discuss a way ahead. But, unfortunately, it might be too little too late.

Yesterday Abbott said it could restart production in two weeks, with product hitting the shelves in six to eight weeks. Little comfort for hungry babies and worried mothers.

Outrage Over Rationing and Bartering

Republicans blasted the Biden Administration today for not doing enough to help American mothers and fathers during this baby formula crisis. This crisis began months ago, and a hearing isn’t scheduled until the end of this month.

Congress did find time, however, to rush through $40 billion for Ukraine.

One hundred House Republicans sent the Biden administration a letter to address the shortage:

“This issue is a matter of life and death, and it is time this administration treats it with the appropriate urgency it deserves.”

It must be difficult for Congress and the President to juggle this issue after approving a whopping $40 billion for Ukraine. How much formula could be produced, and how quickly if $40 billion was thrown at that problem?

Dangerous Choices for Parents, Free Stuff for Illegal Immigrants

Formula isn’t just vital to 3 in 4 families with newborns who depend on it. Formula is also an essential source of nutrition for those with special dietary restrictions and needs.

Claire Rowan, a mother of a 16-year-old with severe and deadly food allergies, posted on Facebook:

“As of now he has no food. None. Our choices are no food or likely anaphylaxis.”

Some parents turn to homemade formula options, diluting the formula with water to stretch out their supply, consuming recalled formula products, or introducing cow’s milk earlier.

All of these options could be dangerous, can affect their children’s mental and physical development, and could even lead to death. Formula is made with specific protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals levels that cannot be replicated at home.

Inflation doesn’t make anything easier either. On average, the cost of formula for an American family for the first year of infancy exceeds $1,000. So something that is already overpriced and affected by Bidenflation is now being shipped for free to illegal immigrants on your dime, if Rep. Cammack’s reports are accurate.

While American parents are bartering and stockpiling, illegal migrants get the formula for free before getting issued their free smartphones for ‘tracking purposes’ and let loose into the country.

Nobody wants any baby to go hungry regardless of where they come from. But there has got to be a better way to manage this crisis. It’s time to stop being reactive and start getting proactive. Or else we may have American mothers trying to migrate to countries that have baby formula.
