Psaki: Woman Accusing Andrew Cuomo Of Sexual Harassment ‘Should Be Heard, Not Silenced’

Biden White House's Jen Psaki Says Woman Accusing Andrew Cuomo Of Sexual Harassment ‘Should Be Heard, Not Silenced’

On Thursday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the former staffer for New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has accused him of sexual harassment, “should be heard.”

“The president has been consistent in his position, when a person comes forward, they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect,” Psaki said.

“Their voice should be heard, not silenced, and any allegation should be reviewed.”

Cuomo Denies Allegations

Lindsey Boylan is a former Cuomo aide who claims that he forcibly kissed her on the lips. Boylan also alleges that the governor made suggestive comments when she was in his presence.

Boylan wrote at Medium on Wednesday, “Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment and bullying is so pervasive that it is not only condoned but expected.”

The governor has denied the allegations.

“Look, I fought for and I believe a woman has the right to come forward and express her opinion and express issues and concerns that she has,” Cuomo told reporters during a press conference on Thursday.

“But it’s just not true,” he added.

Boylan: ‘I Never Planned To Share The Details Of My Experience’

Cuomo’s star has fallen fast since being winning an Emmy for his COVID communications, and being touted by Biden as the “gold standard” for COVID leadership.

Psaki admitted Biden has had a positive attitude about Cuomo, or at least until allegations arose that his administration might have been caught hiding the actual number of deaths in nursing homes.

And now these new accusations against New York’s governor.

“Today I am telling my story,” Boylan tweeted on Wednesday.

“I never planned to share the details of my experience working in the Cuomo administration, but I am doing so now in hopes that it may make it easier for others to speak their own truth.”

Boylan On Cuomo: ‘He Used Intimidation To Silence His Critics’

Boylan wrote in her Medium post, “Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment and bullying is so pervasive that it is not only condoned but expected.”

“His inappropriate behavior toward women was an affirmation that he liked you, that you must be doing something right” she added. “He used intimidation to silence his critics.”

“And if you dared to speak up, you would face consequences,” Boylan charged.
