President Trump Shows His Support for Nick Sandmann’s Lawsuit Against Washington Post

After Nicholas Sandmann’s plans to sue The Washington Post were given the green light to proceed this week, President Trump gave the teenager his full support on Twitter.

‘Go Nick!’

“A Federal Judge is allowing the Nick Sandman libel suit to move forward against the thoroughly disgusting Washington Post (which is no longer available at the White House!),” Trump tweeted. “He could now have a good chance of winning. Go Nick!”

Sandmann unintentionally made national headlines earlier this year, when mainstream media news sites, including the Washington Post, portrayed the teenager as harassing a Native American man named Nathan Phillips.

The high school students were attending the March for Life in Washington, D.C.

The Media Ran With a False Narrative

Phillips accused the boys wearing pro-Trump “Make America Great Again” hats of harassing him as the Native American activist banged a drum in front of Sandmann’s face. However, when other videos emerged showing what really happened – that it was actually Phillips who approached the students, who were in turn being offensively harassed themselves by a fringe group known as the Black Hebrew Israelites.

But many mainstream media outlets ran with Phillips’ version of what happened, painting the boys as racists. Sandmann became the most controversial since it was his face that the video showed the close-up of as he stood across from Phillips.

It became so tense that CNN contributor Reza Aslan, suggested he’d like to punch Sandmann – a 16-year-old boy – in the face. “Honest question. Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?” Aslan tweeted.

Trump-Sandmann vs. Fake News?

Sandmann’s family pursued a number of defamation lawsuits, starting with the Washington Post by seeking $250 million in damages. The Sandmanns claimed the Post was “using its vast financial resources to enter the bully pulpit by publishing a series of false and defamatory print and online articles … to smear a young boy who was in its view an acceptable casualty in their war against the president.”

And now the President is weighing in. Donald Trump is on Nick Sandmann’s side. He doesn’t even keep the Washington Post in the White House anymore.

Maybe together, they can expose fake news once and for all to everyone.
