Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler smeared a local police officer who tackled a rioter, tweeting on Tuesday that the officer had been “filmed repeatedly striking an individual at a protest.”
“A police officer was filmed repeatedly striking an individual at a protest,” Wheeler said. “Even the building where I live, along with dozens of other families, was violently attacked. These acts range from stupid, to dangerous, to criminal. The violence must stop.”
These, of course, are the very officers who have protected Wheeler’s home, which has been under siege by the rioters he refuses to control.

What Really Happened Between The Police Officer And The ‘Protester?’
Reading Wheeler’s tweet would give one the impression that a cop viciously attacked a peaceful protester for no reason.
That’s not what happened.
The “protest” Wheeler cited was in fact a violent riot, and the police officer hit the rioter only after he resisted arrest and fought back so much that the cop lost his helmet.

Portland Police Address The Controversy In A Statement
The Portland Police Bureau published a statement on Tuesday addressing the riot.
“A mass gathering devolved into a riot after individuals broke windows, burglarized a business, and lit a fire in an occupied apartment building,” the statement read.
“[O]fficers observed someone throw burning material through a broken window into a ground-level business in a large, occupied apartment building,” it continued. “Out of concern that the fire could spread, causing an extreme life safety concern, the incident was declared a riot.”
“Over loudspeaker, participants in the gathering were told that the area was closed to all persons, including media and legal observers, to allow firefighters to respond and extinguish the fires,” the statement noted. “Few, if any, of the persons complied.”

“Officers began to move the crowd,” it explained. “Immediately officers reported rocks and paint balloons being thrown at them. Arrests were made. As the crowd moved away, some attempted to stack debris in the road to create barricades. Officers cleared them. At least one more dumpster was lit on fire.”
The police statement noted, “Over the next couple of hours, officers continued to move rioters in an attempt to prevent them from reconvening at the site of the riot. More selective arrests were made when appropriate. By 2:00a.m., most of the participants in the gathering had left the area.”
It should be noted that “apartment building” mentioned was the home of Mayor Ted Wheeler.
Wheeler’s Home Under Siege
Wheeler just can’t seem to help himself. The police he attacks are the very people protecting his apartment building, which has been occupied and set on fire in recent days.

The violence at Wheeler’s apartment building is so bad, he is now moving:

Yet, with all the violence and rioting in Portland – for over three months straight – smug liberals have been taking pictures of parts of town that haven’t been destroyed.
It’s an obvious attempt to gaslight and pretend there’s not really a problem.
Not everyone is falling for the cheap ruse, however:
