A majority of Americans – mostly Republicans and Independents – would stay and fight if an invasion similar to that taking place in Ukraine happened here in the United States.
Most Democrats say they would flee the country.
This, according to a new poll out of Quinnipiac University.
The polling firm presented this hypothetical situation: “As the world witnesses what is happening in Ukraine, Americans were asked what they would do if they were in the same position as Ukrainians are now: stay and fight or leave the country?”
Overall, a majority of Americans – 55 percent – said they would stay and fight to defend their country. Just 38 percent said they would leave the country.
The problem comes when broken down by political party.
“A majority of Americans (57 percent) think the steps that the Biden administration has taken to punish Russia for the invasion of Ukraine are not tough enough, while 29 percent say they are about right, and 3 percent say they are too tough.” https://t.co/ZpsLHC4sCR

If What Happened to Ukraine Happened Here, Democrats Would Flee and Republicans Would Fight
Broken down by party, the answers in the Quinnipiac poll are rather interesting.
Of the Republicans polled, 68 percent would stay and fight while just 25 percent would leave the country. Independents would fight as opposed to fleeing by a 57-36 percent margin.
Democrats, however, would leave.
Fifty-two percent said they would flee the country if it were invaded and just 40 percent said they would stay and fight, according to the poll.
Distinct majorities of Republicans and Independents say that if they were in the position as Ukrainians today, they would stay and fight. A majority of Democrats say they would leave. https://t.co/ZKwMkI6hXJ

Americans Would Fight
Granted Republican voters would seemingly be doing the bulk of the fighting, but it’s nice to know Americans overall would stay and fight for their country if a military invasion took place.
“When confronted with a terrible hypothetical that would put them in the shoes of the Ukrainians, Americans say they would stand and fight rather than seek safety in another country,” Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy said.

Former President Donald Trump’s son had his own analysis of the poll numbers showing Democrats would flee if under attack like Ukraine.
“No one should be surprised that the majority of Dems wouldn’t fight for their country if invaded,” he tweeted. “They’ll just move to the communist utopia of their choosing and find out what it’s like the hard way.”
Democrats hate America. That should be clear to anyone watching their policies. No one should be surprised that the majority of Dems wouldn’t fight for their country if invaded. Nearly half of Americans (49%) according to the same poll report feeling anxious over the events taking place in Ukraine.
The survey also shows Americans disapprove of President Biden’s response to Russia by a 45-42% margin, a slight improvement from a week ago.
Overall, 51 percent disapprove of Biden’s job performance as President while a paltry 38 percent approve.
