And the mainstream media genuinely can’t figure out why supporters of President Trump absolutely despise them.
Politico reporter and veteran of the Miami Herald, Marc Caputo, took to social media late last night and promptly mocked Trump fans as toothless hillbillies.
How charming.
Caputo was enraged at the fact that a pro-Trump crowd attending a rally in Tampa, Florida, took umbrage with CNN’s Jim Acosta’s reporting skills, saying things like, ‘CNN sucks,’ ‘go home,’ and ‘fake news,’ while he conducted a live shot. In true condescending fashion, Caputo responded to the scrum claiming, “If you put everyone’s mouths together in this video, you’d get a full set of teeth.”
Way to justify the hostility towards those in your profession by talking down to the common folk, Marc.

Caputo doubled down on his pathetic assessment by claiming he was “clever” and that the people in the crowd deserved his mockery.
Oh, no! I made fun of garbage people jeering at another person as they falsely accused him of lying and flipped him off.
Someone fetch a fainting couch.

The backlash to Caputo’s comments was fast and furious.
This is so gross and this kind of statement is what so many in the middle of the country think the media thinks of them. @politico should hold their reporters to a higher standard. https://t.co/LEDZBKq96g

Are you surprised? Isn’t this what the left and the mainstream media think about Trump voters? It’s not like it’s a rare sentiment.
Last year’s presidential nominee from the Democrat Party referred to fans of her opponent as “deplorables.” (RELATED: Hillary Clinton Defends ‘Basket of Deplorables’ Comment).
Barack Obama, the former President of the United States, once viewed such people as bitter clingers.
“They cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,” he said.
And there is a myriad of examples out there of late-night comedians and journalists mocking conservatives as being low-IQ individuals.

“They read the papers. They watch TV. They hear the late-night talk show comedians mocking them,” John Kass at the Chicago Tribune writes. “They read pundits who ridicule them. They understand shame all too well.”
And that, CNN, Politico, or whatever mainstream outlet doesn’t get it still, is why Trump supporters loathe you. They’re finally giving it right back.
UPDATE – Caputo has apologized for his tweets. The now-deleted tweets can be seen in their full form below:
While it’s usually a good idea to just delete tweets that are wrong, I own this and the criticism (both accurate and misleading) that has followed. I’ll do better. Here they are: 3/3 pic.twitter.com/G2rZrHjYWb
