House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took a shot at Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, noting that she may have a slew of Twitter followers but “votes on the floor” are far more important.
Pelosi spoke in an interview with USA Today about the difficulties of bringing a divided resistance party together in the era of Trump, essentially explaining that there are adults in the room concerned with action, not social media fans.
“While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House,” Pelosi said.
CNN reports that while Pelosi didn’t name names, it was clear she was referencing Ocasio-Cortez who has, by far, more Twitter followers than any of her colleagues.
“You’d have to be a real dummy to not understand who she was talking about,” CNN editor Chris Cillizza wrote.

And if that’s coming from Cillizza, who has the market cornered on idiocy, then it’s a clear shot at Ocasio-Cortez.
Not subtle at all.

Pelosi was also asked about the response from wide-eyed freshmen in Congress having to accept the fact that she’ll only push legislation that could actually pass.
“They’re fine,” she responded, giving off a hint that she’s dealing with children here.
Not the First Jab By Pelosi
This isn’t the first time Pelosi has taken a shot at the New York socialist.
Earlier this year she mocked the crown jewel of Ocasio-Cortez’ radical environmental platform – the Green New Deal.
“It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive,” Pelosi said while discussing what proposals will be tackled. “The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?”
Condescension – +500 points.

Bad Blood?
Pelosi tends to act like a frustrated parent at times when it comes to dealing with Ocasio-Cortez, as the radical Democrat tries desperately to outmaneuver the entrenched Speaker.
Why? Because she pulls stunts that are meant to diminish the party’s actual more realistic proposals. The Green New Deal is just that, a stunt with no chance of ever becoming law, meant solely to pretend only the freshmen Democrats are interested in saving the environment.
Ocasio-Cortez has engaged in other stunts as well, such as the time she joined dozens of students for a climate change protest in Pelosi’s office before she even spent a day in Congress.
President Trump recently mocked Democrats for being ‘petrified’ of the ’29-year-old, young bartender’ who is driving them off a cliff with her unpopular ideas.
Could these latest comments be a sign that Pelosi is trying to prove otherwise?
