Pelosi Slams Trump’s Executive Order Designed To Help Americans Through Economic Struggles

Ben Sasse is a thorn in the side of the president.

On Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sharply criticized President Trump’s executive order on the next round of stimulus relief.

“No, in fact, what the president did is —I agreed what the Republican senator said— is unconstitutional slop,” Pelosi said, referencing statements by Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) slamming President Trump’s executive actions.

“The pen-and-phone theory of executive lawmaking is unconstitutional slop,” Sasse said in a statement leaked to The Hill.

“President Obama did not have the power to unilaterally rewrite immigration law with DACA, and President Trump does not have the power to unilaterally rewrite the payroll tax law… The swamp should stop pretending there’s some thoughtful negotiation happening here. … The White House is trying to solve bad polling by agreeing to indefensibly bad debt. This proposal is not targeted to fix precise problems — it’s about Democrats and Trumpers competing to outspend each other.”

Pelosi continued her comments on several news shows:

“While it has the illusion of saying we’re going to have a moratorium on evictions, it says I’m gonna ask the folks in charge to study if that’s feasible. While he says he’s going to do the payroll tax, what he’s doing is undermining Social Security and Medicare, so these are illusions,” Pelosi said. The orders “don’t give the money in enhanced benefits, but puts a complicated formula there which will take a while, if at all, to accomplish to put money in the pockets of the American people.”

“Today’s meager announcements by the president show President Trump still does not comprehend the seriousness or the urgency of the health and economic crises facing working families,” Pelosi said with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Saturday.

“We’re disappointed that instead of putting in the work to solve Americans’ problems, the President instead chose to stay on his luxury golf course to announce unworkable, weak and narrow policy announcements to slash the unemployment benefits that millions desperately need and endanger seniors’ Social Security and Medicare…” she added.

“What the president did doesn’t even accomplish what he sets out to do in the categories that he did,” Pelosi said. “But we said to them, we’ll come down a trillion, you go up a trillion. Meet us halfway, and we’ll be able to have an agreement that meets the needs of the American people.”

And on yet another show, she stated, “How do you justify tens of billions of dollars to feed the hungry to $250,000. You understand how far apart we are just by that example.” Pelosi also said the GOP proposal didn’t include aid to the Post Office or states as they run elections this fall. By that she means funding to steal elections by mail-in voting.

Trump announced a group of executive actions on Saturday to help Americans get through the economic situation until a bill is worked out by Congress. Among the benefits are a renewal of boosted unemployment benefits that were lowered to $400-per-week down from $600-per-week, a 120-day eviction ban, a payroll tax holiday until the end of the year, and an extension of student loan relief.
