House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is “closely” monitoring the rumored trucker convoy headed to Washington, D.C.
The truckers reportedly plan to arrive before President Joe Biden‘s March 1st State of the Union address.

Pelosi Spox: ‘We are monitoring the situation closely’
Fox News reported, “After the so-called ‘Freedom Convoy’ was broken up by police in Ottawa, Canada, D.C. is taking steps to prepare for the possibility that thousands of truckers will descend on the U.S. Capitol in the coming days.”
Pelosi spokesperson Drew Hammill told Fox News, “We are monitoring the situation closely but deferred to the USCP, which is in charge of security.”
The U.S. Capitol Police said last Friday they knew about the arriving truckers.
A statement read, “The United States Capitol Police and the United States Secret Service have been closely working together to plan for the upcoming State of the Union. The temporary inner-perimeter fence is part of those ongoing discussions and remains an option, however at this time no decision has been made.”
D.C. is also looking for help from the National Guard and tow trucks.
The Political Insider noted yesterday:
In addition to the National Guard troops, Fox reports that tow trucks are also being hired.
In a phone interview with Fox News, the owner of one towing company whose trucks have already been spotted near the Capitol stated that the city of Washington D.C. had hired the company specifically for the trucker convoy and to clear illegally parked vehicles.

Biggest Security Challenge Since Capitol riot
Pentagon spokesman Jack Kirby said of the National Guard, “The Department is analyzing a request for assistance from the US Capitol Police and the DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. Those agencies have asked for National Guard personnel to provide support at traffic control points in and around the District to help the USCP and DC government address potential challenges stemming from possible disruptions at key traffic arteries.”
“No decisions have been made yet to approve these requests,” he added.
According to Fox News, “The plan (by city officials) is to keep truckers away from the heart of D.C. and specifically, Capitol Hill. The effort could mark the biggest security challenge in Washington since last year’s riot.”
The Political Insider reported last week that an effort dubbed “The People’s Convoy” is set to start in Barstow, California on February 23rd.
“Another group – The Great American Patriot Project – is actively soliciting for truckers to join their convoy, which is currently planning on routes generating from Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, as well as Fresno, California,” The Political Insider noted.
