Capitol Police Reinstall Fencing As American ‘Freedom Convoy’ Heads To Washington

Capitol police are reportedly planning to re-install fencing around the U.S. Capitol complex as American truckers are prepping their own 'freedom convoy' to Washington, D.C.

Capitol Police are reportedly planning to re-install fencing around the U.S. Capitol this week ahead of President Biden’s upcoming State of the Union Address, as American truckers are reportedly prepping their own ‘freedom convoy’ to the nation’s capital.

The Political Insider reported last week that an effort dubbed “The People’s Convoy” is set to start in Barstow, California on February 23rd.

Another group – The Great American Patriot Project – is actively soliciting for truckers to join their convoy, which is currently planning on routes generating from Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, as well as Fresno, California.

Fox News is reporting that the Capitol fencing, originally installed following the January 6 riot, is being reinstalled in conjunction with President Biden’s State of the Union address on March 1st.

“The United States Capitol Police and the United States Secret Service have been closely working together to plan for the upcoming State of the Union,” a statement from the U.S. Capitol Police reads.

Capitol Fencing Returns

The American trucker ‘Freedom Convoy’ comes as law enforcement descended last week on the Canadian convoy – which generated as a massive and peaceful demonstration against the US-Canada cross-border vaccine mandate – and chaos ensued.

The world watched in horror as video emerged of an elderly woman along with others being knocked over by police horses.

Other extreme measures have included freezing protesters’ bank accounts, and taking away their insurance, according to the CBC.

The northern version demonstrated in Canada for weeks and caused major blockades. A similar visual around the Capitol as the State of the Union is being delivered is clearly being frowned up by the government.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau initially hid in an ‘undisclosed location’ according to the CBC, citing “security concerns,” as the truckers arrived.

Fencing is Becoming a Regular Sight

The Capitol fencing was installed after the January 6 riot and remained largely in place until July of 2021.

The New York Post celebrated the removal of the fencing at the time calling it “The People’s House once more.”

After the initial January 6 incident, the Capitol complex was fortified for months with thousands of National Guard troops, surrounded by razor wire fencing, and locked down with manned checkpoints.

Still, police today vow to accommodate peaceful protesters outside the Capitol when the American trucker ‘Freedom Convoy’ arrives, even as they cast a wary eye toward them.

“Law enforcement agencies across the National Capital Region are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, D.C., around the time of the State of the Union,” police said.

“As with any demonstration, the USCP will facilitate lawful First Amendment activity.”

Republican Representative Lauren Boebert was a critic of the lockdown state last year, blasting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for turning the Capitol into a “fortress,” urging her to “tear down this wall.”

Instead of tearing it down, the wall is making a comeback.

What does it say when the southern border remains wide open to illegal immigrants and drug cartels but every time a small gathering of right-leaning protesters come to D.C. the wall gets built?
