Pelosi Declares ‘Mother Earth Is Angry — She’s Telling Us With Hurricanes On The Gulf Coast, Fires In The West’

Pelosi

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that the wildfires damaging the West Coast and hurricanes that have battered the Gulf Coast are due to climate change.

Pelosi told MSNBC’s Joy Reid that the natural disasters were a sign that “Mother Earth is angry.”

“Here we are, on the eve of 9/11, the 19th anniversary of 9/11, as we are filled with sadness, continued to be filled with sadness about those who lost their lives at that time and since from consequences of 9/11,” Pelosi said on “The Reidout.”

“That was going to be our focus this week,” she continued. “We have these fires in California, and in the West, 16 people have died in Washington, Oregon, and California, including a firefighter and a 1-year-old baby. We — our firefighters have been so, very, very courageous.”

Then Pelosi got super wacky.

Pelosi: ‘Mother Earth Is Angry’

“Now, we’re, again, breaking records. Mother Earth is angry,” she went on. “She’s telling us — whether – she’s telling us with hurricanes on the Gulf Coast, fires in the West, whatever it is, that climate crisis is real and has an impact.”

“I hear — I came over the weekend back to Washington,” Pelosi explained. “It was unhealthy and smoky, that was how they described the air then. Now, it has gotten much worse, and I’m hearing regularly on the ongoing from my constituents about the concern they have about the fires and the air quality, the loss of life, and over 34 million acres burned. That’s an historic number.”

She finished, “Again, sadness over 9/11 complicated by our concern about the fires, at the same time as we’re dealing with a coronavirus and finding out that the President of the United States didn’t address it in the serious way that it needed to be addressed early on.”

Other Prominent Democrats Blame Wildfires On Climate Change

2020 Democratic vice presidential candidate and Senator Kamala Harris also tweeted about the wildfires, saying, “We cannot beat around the bush—this is climate change. The climate crisis has caused hotter and drier conditions in California that are leading to massive wildfires and a longer wildfire season.”

“We have to take action that meets the needs of this moment,” she said.

Democratic Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders has also said the California wildfires are due to climate change.

“The 2nd, 3rd & 4th largest wildfires in California’s history continue to rage,” Sanders tweeted. “The sky on the West Coast turned red & orange.”

“Please don’t tell me the Green New Deal is radical,” the far-left senator added. “What’s radical is having a president in office who rejects science and calls climate change a hoax.”
