How often have you heard this? “Nobody wants to take your guns, we just want common sense regulation.”
Perhaps those saying that legitimately believe what they’re saying – it’s their ignorance of firearms that causes them to support regulations that would, in fact, require the overwhelming majority of firearms in existence to be banned. And what’s the next logical step after they’re banned? That they’ll be confiscated.
“We’re not trying to take your guns, we are trying to live,” said Parkland survivor David Hogg.
In response to an NRATV video saying that “the truth is, they [the left] want to ban every gun in America,” Parkland survivor Jaclyn Corin replied, “The truth is, we want to ban guns that can fire 160 rounds in 7 minutes.” That’s one round every 2.6 seconds, so in other words, all of them.
“We’re not saying ‘no guns.’ We are saying we want to regulate semi-automatic weapons and the accessories that make them fully automatic because fully automatic weapons are banned,” said survivor Emma Gonzalez during an appearance on Ellen. I think this may be the first time I’ve seen a liberal successfully differentiate between semi and fully automatic weapons.
And yet after the shooting at a Waffle House during Sunday morning in Tennessee, Gonzalez changed her tone, effectively calling for all guns to be banned, as she called for the banning of semi-automatic weapons as well.

She then repeated another common myth, that America is somehow the only country with mass public shootings. “The FBI defines a mass shooting as 4 people killed (not including the shooter). Mass shootings occur in churches, in schools, at concerts, in waffle houses – just about anywhere. Except in other countries,” she wrote.

But it’s not even remotely true. The worst mass shootings have occurred in other countries.

And you have to remember, the United States is one of the world’s most populous nations. When you adjust for population though, the U.S. isn’t #1 in the frequency of mass public shootings, or the number of mass shooting deaths per capita.
And what of the worst of the worst mass shootings? If we look at those where more than 15 are killed from 1970 to 2018, Europe and India/Pakistan have fewer mass shootings per capita, but Africa, Australia, and Israel have more. Though Israel should be treated as an outlier, because of the heightened threat of terrorism there.

The gun is just a paper weight that can harm no one, unless a person picks it up and fires it. Taking away the guns is not going to keep people from dying from gun violence, because there is always going to be a black market where a person can get access to guns. Problem is the person firing the gun. They are either filled with racism and hatred, or they are evil, or they are mentally ill.
Instead of trying to ban guns, these kids should be advocating for free mental health for people who can’t afford it.
Also, there should be a national database created for all Americans that own guns-just like what we have for driver’s license, and sex offenders. And, every year everyone should be made to go and register all of their guns for a small fee. And, if the person who intends to go blow someone else away does see a psychiatrist and suggest that he/she is going to harm others, then a red flag should be placed by their name on that database, and they should be watched from afar for awhile, and stopped if they proceed with their intentions. This can also be done for people online chatting or writing about harming others, by tracing them with their I.P. address, and also placing a red flag by their database name, so they can also be watched, and stopped.
99.9 percent of Americans are responsible, and are not out trying to kill others with guns. Although these shootings are tragic, they are not epidemic, and all Americans should not have to give up their guns because of a few psychopathic shooters. There are more intelligent ways to deal with this problem.
I’m only surprised they finally admit what most of us knew in our hearts. These kids are thinking superficially but that is to be expected in immature young minds. How they make up for it is by having loud mouths, nice young faces and an impassioned belief that they know everything just like most teenagers.
Addendum: These kids were present on a campus where a terrible crime occurred. That doesn’t make them “survivors”. The loudest (David Hogg) was in another building in a closet. I don’t really know Gonzalez was but I have seen nothing to suggest she was fired upon and actually “survived”. Let’s call them Parkland High School Student Activists not “survivors”.
Hogg wasn’t even at the school when the shooting happened. He was at home then got on his bicycle & went to the school. The protest in DC was planned long before the shooting. These little idiots are geing supported by Soros to get all guns banned in the US. Sick of these little sh*ts!
