Last month, President Donald J. Trump signed two major executive orders on illegal immigration and border security, paving the way for some of the president’s major campaign promises to be fulfilled.
In the orders, the president began the long-overdue process of moving along a border wall to be constructed along the U.S.-Mexico border, and beefed up resources for America’s Border Patrol. In addition, the president announced plans to end the controversial “catch and release” program, as well as pledging to crack down on illegal sanctuary cities that have been popping up across the country.
While liberals have been up in arms over President Trump fulfilling his promise to enforce America’s immigration laws, we remember this video showing Barack Obama supporting the very same immigration policies:

In the video from 2014, President Obama is discussing his authority as president to enforce immigration law, deport criminals, and not reward illegal immigrants who jump the line, all of which have been proposed by President Trump. Despite the similarity in their immigration beliefs, the left never had a full-on meltdown over Obama’s positions.
Here’s what Obama said in 2014:
Even as we are a nation of immigrants, we’re also a nation of laws. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws and I believe that they must be held accountable, especially those who may be dangerous. When I took office, I committed to fixing this broken immigration system and I began by doing what I could to secure our borders. But today our immigration system is broken, and everybody knows it. There are actions that I have the legal authority to take as president. Tonight, I’m announcing those actions. We’ll build on our progress at the border with additional resources for our law enforcement personnel so that they can stem the flow of illegal crossings and speed the return of those who do cross over.
If you’re a criminal, you’ll be deported. If you plan to enter the U.S. illegally, your chances of getting caught and sent back just went up. We expect people who live in this country to play by the rules. We expect those that cut the line will not be unfairly rewarded. The actions I’m taking are not only lawful, they’re the kinds of actions taken by every single Republican president and every single Democratic president for the past half-century. And for those members of Congress who question my authority to make our immigration system work better, or question the wisdom of me acting where Congress has failed, I have one answer: pass a bill.
It’s hilarious that liberals will attack President Trump’s immigration proposals but ignore the fact that President Obama said virtually the exact same thing while in the White House. If anything, the above video should provide President Trump with even more ammunition to defend his immigration plans, but don’t expect the left to give the president that kind of leeway.
Whenever the president is promoting his immigration policies, he should make a point of referencing Barack Obama’s previous support in favor of the very same policies because we know the liberal media won’t share that information.
