New Poll Shows Joe Biden’s Approval Rating Has Dropped To 48 Percent

According to a new poll released Wednesday, President Joe Biden’s approval rating has dropped below the 50 percent marker, to now 48 percent.  

The survey was conducted by Monmouth University.

But you wouldn’t be able to tell from the slanted headline Monmouth used. Take a look:

Overall Approval Just 48 Percent

A June 11 Rasmussen poll had Biden with a 49 percent approval rating, but the June 16 Monmouth poll has the president at 48 approval.

However, the poll also shows that Biden’s spending plans “remain popular,” with his administration’s COVID-19 spending plan receiving 60 percent support and ‘infrastructure’ package garnering a high 68 percent support.

“Joe Biden’s job rating has taken a dip as progress on his spending plans has stalled. The latest Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll finds a majority of the American public continues to support these plans despite concerns about a potential rise in consumer prices as a result,” Monmouth University noted.

Many Don’t Believe Biden’s Spending Plans Will Pass

The survey continued, “One question is whether the plans should be passed with or without bipartisan support. A sense that the president has not quite met expectations for boosting the middle class may factor into his strategy on passing these bills.”

Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, emphasized that many Americans doubt these plans will come to pass.

Murray said, “Biden’s rating is still in net positive territory, but it seems to have taken a dip with the growing uncertainty that his signature spending plans will be enacted.”

‘The Plans Are Broadly Popular, But The Path To Getting There Is Not So Clear-Cut’

“The plans are broadly popular, but the path to getting there is not so clear-cut. This is one of those situations where the administration has to weigh short-term blowback in public opinion against what they hope will be long-term gains,” added Murray.

President Biden is currently on a European trip in which he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. Both leaders held solo press conferences after their private summit, where each man reportedly sat face-to-face for over two hours.
