NBC News ran a report over the weekend which focused on people who think they can change their race simply by watching online videos.

The individuals in question practice what is called “race change to another,” or RCTA. In reality, they are suffering from Delusional Disorder, or DD.

And while the outlet sugar-coated things ever so slightly, they still managed to point out that the idea one could change their race simply by willing it through subliminal messages in suggestive videos is … what’s the scientific term – cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

NBC notes that experts insist “it is simply impossible to change your race.”

“It’s just belief,” said one such expert, assistant professor of cultural and media studies at Queens College, Jamie Cohen. “It doesn’t ever really work, because it’s not doing anything, but they have convinced themselves that it works because there’s other people who have convinced themselves, as well.”

People Can’t Just Pretend To Be A Different Race, But Some Have Tried

Hardest hit by this report scoffing at the notion that people can simply change their race will be several prominent liberals who have, over the years, tried to do just that.

Of course, they probably didn’t actually believe they were a different race, they just knew they could profit from pretending.

It’s been well-documented that Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) furthered her career by claiming minority status, listing herself as a minority law teacher for nearly a decade in the ’80s and ’90s.

A Harvard Crimson piece in 1996 described her as Native American, while a Fordham Law Review article in 1997 even described her specifically as a “woman of color.”

Then there was Rachel Dolezal, a former NAACP leader who shot to infamy after it was discovered she was a white woman pretending to be black.

She later tried to keep the ruse going by claiming she was trans-black. No, we’re not making that up.

NBC counters those claims explaining that “even though race is a cultural construct, it is impossible to change your race because of the systemic inequalities inherent to being born into a certain race.”

And of course, we all know about activists Jessica Krug and Talcum X Shaun King.

Gender Isn’t the Same Thing

If NBC News is willing to point out the ridiculousness of pretending to be a different race, can we not take the next logical progression and call out people who like to pretend they’re a different gender?

Apparently not.

While NBC hits back at the race changers, they are quick to defend transgender individuals. It’s not the same thing, you see.

“RCTA and transracialism — which came to the forefront because of controversial figures like Rachel Dolezal — have been compared to being transgender,” they write. “However, psychologists and activists push back against comparisons.”

They note that any comparison of switching genders to switching races does a “disservice to transgender people.”

What’s fascinating in the report is that NBC News uses a bevy of “psychologists” to point out how wrong it is to feign being a different race, labeling it “appropriation” and pointing out it is “impossible.”

Psychologists say this is wrong. Why won’t they speak up about people who identify outside the only two genders?

In both instances, what you’re witnessing is a mental disorder.
