Nancy Pelosi Announces Impeachment Plans Should Democrats Take Back the House

Nancy Pelosi Trump impeachment

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi put a serious damper on left-wing fantasies throughout the nation, announcing that impeaching President Trump is “off the table” should Democrats regain control of the House after the midterm elections. Now the question becomes, is she being truthful with her intentions or is she simply trying to shut down Democrats who keep harping on it because it’s a losing campaign strategy?

Pelosi cited 2006, the year she and her party gained control of Congress amidst calls for impeachment of President George W. Bush, as an example that she has stood firm against the process unless there’s actually some evidence of wrongdoing.

What they have right now isn’t enough.

“Going into the [2006] election, I said it’s off the table. I didn’t mean it’s off the table if you had some goods. If somebody has information, then we can act upon it,” she said in a Rolling Stone interview. “But from what we know now, it’s off the table.”

“Even with Trump. If you got something, show it,” Pelosi added. “But I’m not going after it.”

She also couched her comments with an obvious revelation that unhinged impeachment talk is a “gift to the Republicans.”

“I wouldn’t not impeach the president for political reasons,” Pelosi explained. “But I wouldn’t impeach him for political reasons, either. That’s just not what it’s supposed to be about. I think it’s not unifying for the country.”

Maxine Waters will be hardest hit by this news.

If not for political reasons, there is nothing. The reality is that they have absolutely nothing to go on for non-political reasons. She’s basically trying to soften the blow for Democrat voters knowing full-well they can’t follow through on Waters’ rhetoric.

Still, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani isn’t buying what Nancy is selling.

“I have to listen to all the people in the Democratic party, not just the leaders. And they could be lying. They could be lying because they don’t want it as a campaign issue,” Giuliani said during an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash. “You don’t think Nancy Pelosi wants to impeach him? Give me a break.”

“I have said over and over again that I don’t think we should be talking about impeachment,” Pelosi said during a press briefing in April. “I’ve been very clear right from the start.”

What’s clear is that the Democrats will almost certainly try to impeach Trump should they regain control of Congress. The motivation for Pelosi’s comments is simply to get them to stop talking about it because the American people don’t support the idea.

If Democrats try and impeach President Trump, the American people will likely revolt and punish them at the ballot box during the 2018 and 2020 elections. Talks of impeachment only help President Trump.
