MSNBC Host Nicolle Wallace Wants Obama-led ‘Democracy Commission’ To Save America From Republicans

With election day less than a month away, liberal pundits are starting to break out into cold sweats over the possibility that they may lose political power in D.C. Who could save them from such a calamity?

It certainly won’t be the current President, whose approval ratings have been consistently dismal and whose popularity, even among Democrats running for office, has him being the leader awkwardly not invited to campaign events. It’s fair to say our oratorical master of disaster, Vice President Kamala Harris, will not save the Democratic Party either.

So naturally, the chosen one to help deliver the party – and if you believe the talking heads, the country at large from the brink of collapse – is none other than former President Barack Obama. According to MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, that is.

What Should We Do?

While discussing the claim that the Republican Party is attempting to dismantle democracy through election denial with former Missouri Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill, Nicolle Wallace made the bold claim that Republicans running for office are doing it to “sew discord in America.”

She references allegations of election fraud by Republicans, stating that “We are watching Republicans not just destroying democracy in the dark…” but also on rally and debate stages.

Curiously left out of her comments is the fact that Democrats have denied every election won by Republicans since the year 2000.

So what does she suggest? Perhaps we need a “Democracy Commission” like a hotline run by President Obama and operated by Never Trump Republicans Chris Christie and Ben Ginsberg. 

I suppose the idea would be to call the hotline if you think that Republicans are cheating or just plain winning? Or to get the “real” information about election results are coming along? How very Pravda-esque of her to suggest essentially a truth commission headed by a former head of the opposition party. 

Just what we need is a phone number citizens can call to report their fellow citizens who don’t believe the same things they believe in. Apparently, the only way to save democracy is to eliminate two-party politics and move to just one party.

Mean, Racist, Sexist, Angry Republicans

Unfortunately for Ms. Wallace and her ilk, the great deliverer is focused on a more global long-range target than operating a ridiculous hotline. President Obama has been focusing on his brand as of late versus stumping for candidates in these midterms.

That doesn’t mean he hasn’t been fundraising. At the Copenhagen Democracy Summit this past June, the former Commander-in-Chief said of Republicans:

“Sometimes, it just turns out they’re mean, they’re racist, they’re sexist, they’re angry.”

Ouch! Yet moments later, the charismatic ambassador of all things cool and hip in America said of his party:

“Sometimes, we get filled up in our own self-righteousness.”

What?! Democrats sometimes come off as high and mighty?! The party of the Clintons, the Obamas, and the Bidens? Surely you must be mistaken, Mr. Obama.

He goes on to explain:

“We’re so convinced that we’re right that we forget what we are right about.”

Democrats aren’t the only ones who forget; the rest of us aren’t entirely sure what you are right about anymore.

Forum vs. Commission

While the former President will unlikely manage a commission on democracy, he is launching the first of what he hopes will be an annual Democracy Forum. The forum is scheduled for two weeks after election day in New York City and is an offshoot of his Obama Foundation.

His new venture aims to “strengthen institutions and fight disinformation” by “promoting inclusive capitalism and expanded pluralism.” He’s explained that the event would include discussion and debate on:

“…ideas for how we can adapt our democracies and our institutions for a new age.”

It sounds like quite the love fest for liberals and Obama fans, who will undoubtedly pay premium costs to sit and chat about how their ideas for the world’s future are superior to all others. It doesn’t sound self-righteous at all, does it?

Mischief Could Be Afoot!

Just because the former President isn’t running the midterm campaign circuit as rigorously as Democratic candidates would like doesn’t mean he’s not still banging the drum to warn against the possible rise of the Republican Party. At another fundraising event, he warned:

“There’s a lot of mischief that can be done with a Republican House majority.”

Oh boy, mischief! Like fiscal responsibility, reining in the government police state, and holding people accountable for their actions and performance? That kind of mischief?

He explained what will probably be the argument for every election moving forward: this one “…is not a normal election” and that “…the stakes could not be higher.” He paints a fascinating picture of the two parties going into the midterms.

The Democrats are:

“…those of us who believe in a vision of society in which each individual is treated with equal worth and equal dignity.”

Meanwhile, according to the former President, Republicans have:

“…everything to do with tribe and race and sect and power and violence.”

Perspective Is Everything

While the mainstream media and President Obama want to push a narrative that Republicans are the racists and destroyers of democracy, others argue it’s the other way around.

Most notably and recently, former Democrat and Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has a different perspective of her former party:

“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms, are hostile to people of faith & spirituality, demonize the police & protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believe in open borders, weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”

To be fair, I’m not entirely sure Tulsi was ever a Democrat; I liked her just far too much for that to be true. But, all joking aside, I’m unsure I could lay out any better than she did this morning on what the Democratic Party has become. 

Will Obama continue to be the prophet the Democrats hope for? Or will the upcoming midterms and presidential election provide a rude awakening that perhaps they’ve spent too much time reading their own press clippings instead of listening to those they were elected to represent?
