Media Pounces On Pence Family After Loss Of Beloved Cat Pickle

On Thursday, Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, revealed that one of the family’s beloved cats died this week.

Karen shared the sad news on Twitter, along with a photo of Pickle, who’d lived to the ripe old age of 16.

The Vice President also retweeted the photo from his official @VP Twitter account.

Mike and Karen’s daughter, Charlotte Pence, also posted a moving tribute to Pickle on her Instagram account.

The Pences are prolific pet owners, and it’s well documented that they care deeply for their animals – several of their pets have their own Instagram accounts. Famously, they moved all their pets into the Naval Observatory official residence when Pence took office, including the most famous Pence pet of all, rabbit Marlon Bundo.

Unfortunately, Pickle isn’t the only pet the Pences have lost this year. In June, another family cat, Oreo, passed away at age 13. Soon after, the Pences brought home a new cat and dog, Hazel and Harley.

Losing a pet is never easy, especially not during the Christmas season. But rather than offer the Pences their condolences for the loss of a beloved family member, the media attacked. According to this Newsweek article, “Mike Pence’s Pet’s Won’t Stop Dying.”

In the article, John Haltiwanger points out the loss of cats Pickle and Oreo, as well as the loss of beagle Maverick, who passed at the age of 13 just before the presidential election. “It is unclear if the stress of Washington life is getting to the Pences’ political animals,” he writes.

Actually, it’s perfectly clear that stress had absolutely nothing to do with the deaths of Maverick, Oreo, and Pickle. The typical lifespan of both cats and beagles is 12 to 15 years; as stated previously, Maverick, Oreo, and Pickle died at ages 13, 13, and 16, respectively. They lived nice long, loved lives – a fact that Haltiwanger doesn’t deny, going on to conclude, “So perhaps, there isn’t any capital intrigue to the issue.”

You don’t say?

Haltiwanger’s article was completely pointless and disgusting, contrived to do nothing more than kick the Pences while they’re down. He and Newsweek should be ashamed of themselves for published such utter garbage.

Share on Facebook this if you’re praying for the Pences in their time of loss!
