NBC host Megyn Kelly raised more than a few eyebrows during her Tuesday morning show, when she suggested that wearing blackface on Halloween used to be an acceptable practice.
Kelly joined other panelists to discuss what constitutes a politically correct Halloween costume before she stepped into a heaping pile of controversy.
“I just feel like it’s so absurd, how — who comes up with these rules?” she asked.
The panel then discussed certain offensive costumes that would be frowned upon – examples included dressing up like Harvey Weinstein, or a couple going as the letters ‘F’ and ‘U.’
That’s when Kelly shifted gears and explained that dressing up in blackface used to be okay, even citing examples of why it’s okay to do so.

Megyn’s defense of blackface
Decades ago, Kelly argued, going out on Halloween in a blackface costume was acceptable.
“That was okay, as long as you were dressing like a character,” she claimed.

“You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person that puts on whiteface for Halloween,” she admitted, prior to citing a specific example in which she felt it should be acceptable.
There was a controversy on ‘The Real Housewives of New York’ with Luann (de Lesseps). She dressed as Diana Ross, and she made her skin look darker than it really is. And people said that that was racist. And I don’t know! I thought like, who doesn’t love Diana Ross? She wants to look like Diana Ross for one day, and I don’t know how that got racist on Halloween.
What could have possibly been going through her head when she brought up a topic? No matter how she framed it, she was going to get slaughtered for it in the media.
It wasn’t long before the backlash was in full swing and Kelly was forced to issue an apology.
I’m told that @megynkelly has apologized to her colleagues for her Blackface comments.

“Such behavior is indeed wrong, and I am sorry,” Kelly said in an internal email to colleagues. “The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep.”
Hollywood hypocrites like Jimmy Kimmel have done blackface
Some of those most offended by Kelly’s comments on blackface herald from the wonderful world of leftist Hollywood.
Borderline actors and comedians such as Tom Arnold, Patton Oswalt, and W. Kamau Bell all took shots at the NBC with their holier-than-thou act.
Deadline even offered a screaming headline which reads: “Hollywood Schools Megyn Kelly On Why Blackface Is Racist Any Time Of Year.”
Fair enough. But where were all these hypocrites when their colleague Jimmy Kimmel became famous for actually dressing up in blackface?

Well now, it’s perfectly okay when Hollywood liberals do it and hide behind the explanation that ‘it’s just comedy.’ Amirite?
We’re not sure what Kelly’s motivation was here? Did she just have a brain cramp? Did she decide she’s just flat-out tired of PC culture altogether?
Or was she looking for ratings by injecting controversy into her show? Like dressing up as country music star Shania Twain, or dancing awkwardly for no apparent reason?

It’s a whole lot easier to explain those things away than to defend something people find to be unquestionably racist.
