McConnell Focuses On Billions In Aid To Ukraine While Americans Struggle To Buy Baby Formula, Gas

McConnell Says 'Ukraine Most Important Thing Going On,' Americans Say Otherwise

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) apparent complete and total disconnect with the American people was on full display Monday, as he took to the microphone and declared, “I think we all agree the most important thing going on in the world right now is the war in Ukraine.”

McConnell continued, “I had a chance to call the President last week, and request that the Ukraine package move by itself and quickly.”

McConnell’s commentary was fitting as Congress voted to send $40 billion of our tax dollars to Ukraine – but Americans may have greater worries at home.

How The GOP Votes Shook Out

A total of 149 Republicans voted in favor of the $40 billion aid package going to Ukraine. Every Democrat also voted in favor of the bill. All 57 votes against the package were Republican votes.

Not surprisingly, Jan.6 committee token GOP members Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) voted for the package.

Some familiar names who can usually be counted on to put the interests of the American people first were reliable “no” votes, including Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Louie Gohmert (R-TX).

Wolves In GOP Clothing

Many Republican House members who walk the walk voted down another massive shipment of American tax dollars to fight another foreign war.

But there were almost three times as many GOP House members who like to portray themselves as tough on Joe Biden, Democrats, and their loose spending habits.

But when faced with the decision to come to the aid of foreign nations rather than perhaps keep those tax dollars at home to deal with growing numbers of crises at home, “go along to get along” seemed to be the order of the day.

The next time folks like Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Steve Scalise (R-LA), or Elise Stefanik (R-NY), find a TV camera to get tough on the Biden administration, remember, they voted with every member of the Squad to fund the Ukraine border before the U.S. southern border.

Here Is What Americans Really Think Is Important

Mitch McConnell seems blissfully unaware that most Americans do not think the most important thing going on in the world is the war in Ukraine.

Inflation, rising gas and food prices, and a baby formula shortage is a bit more important than Ukraine. While not directed at McConnell, Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted on Monday just exactly the things Americans are concerned about.

The Border Patrol says they have lost all operational control over who is coming into America. Millions more illegal immigrants are expected to reach the border this summer, as well as massive amounts of drugs like fentanyl, as well as a rise in human trafficking.

As of Monday, the national average of a gallon of gas is $4.37. Joe Biden blames Vladimir Putin and says of Republicans, “They have no plan to bring down energy prices today. No plan to get us to a cleaner energy independent future tomorrow.”

Americans with babies are concerned with a shortage of baby formula. Six midwestern states have reported extreme outages, and the out-of-stock rate rose to 40% in April. No response from the Biden administration on when or if something will be done.

But Mitch McConnell blathered on saying, “Discussions are underway between House and Senate appropriators on crafting of the package. It needs to be clean of extraneous matters, directly related to helping Ukrainians win the war.”
