Sadly, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a shooting involving an officer. It happened after officers responded to a call just before 9 am of an ‘agitated and possibly armed subject’ in the area.
“We have two deputies who have suffered gunshots wounds and are being transported for treatment,” the department wrote in a press release. “It is currently an active critical incident and the suspect has not been secured. Please remain away from the area. We will provide an update as soon as possible.”
As KCRA reports:
The incident began about 9 a.m. when someone called the sheriff’s department about a disgruntled employee pulling marijuana plants out at a Rastafarian church at 9019 Marysville Road, the sheriff’s department said.
The man opened fire on the deputies, hitting two of them. There was an exchange of gunfire, but the shooter got away, officials said.
Officers are not sure if the gunman was hurt in the shooting. His identity and description have not been released.
People are being asked to avoid the area during the investigation.
No additional details have been released.
