Mark McCloskey, St. Louis Attorney Who Defended Home Against BLM Protesters, Announces Senate Bid

Mark McCloskey, the St. Louis attorney who along with his wife stood outside with firearms when Black Lives Matters protesters entered their private street, announced on Tuesday that he will run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Missouri Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) at the end of his term next year.

McCloskey and his wife Patricia made international headlines last year, when they stood outside their home, armed with a rifle and a pistol, as a group of Black Lives Matter protesters came through the gate of their private street.

According to the McCloskeys, the protesters stopped in front of their home and behaved in a threatening manner as they made their way to the home of then-Mayor Lyda Krewson.

Being Awakened By The Woke Mob

The McCloskeys became conservative media stars after the pictures of them defending their home and property went viral. They have spoken at various events, including the 2020 Republican National Convention, on the Second Amendment and the Constitutional rights of Americans. 

Mark McCloskey told Tucker Carlson, “God came knocking on my door disguised as an angry mob. It really did wake me up.”

He also said, “As I campaigned for [Donald Trump], and we’ve continued to do rallies and events supporting our constitutional rights, what I’ve learned is that the people are sick and tired of cancel culture – and the poison of critical race theory and the big lie of systemic racism.”

While the media claimed that Mark McCloskey had been a Democrat, he told Tucker Carlson on Tuesday, “I’ve always been a Republican, but I have never been a politician.”

He blasted President Joe Biden for implementing “socialist” policies, such as giving out federal payments in the form of stimulus checks, that he says essentially pay Americans to stay at home and not work.

He talked about the economic struggles many small businesses all over the nation are having now trying to stay afloat and hire more employees.

He added that, “You have to send people to D.C. that are willing to tell the truth and fight for our freedom regardless what have it costs you personally, economically, or socially.”

The McCloskeys Still Have Legal Troubles

The McCloskeys are not out of the woods yet legally because of the events of the day that made them nationally-known figures.

Both were indicted on felony charges of unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with evidence. If convicted, both could lose their law licenses.

Last month their attorney filed a motion to send the case back to the Grand Jury to decide whether the McCloskeys should have been indicted at all. Attorney Joel Schwartz cited bias in St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Garner’s office.

Gardner, a George Soros-backed Circuit Attorney was recently taken off the case because it was revealed that she used the case in her bid for re-election as Circuit Attorney.

The motion was denied and a trial date date has been set for November 1. The next hearing on the case is scheduled for June.

Race For Open Senate Seat Becoming Crowded

Mark McCloskey is joining a growing field of candidates on both sides for the soon-to-be open Missouri Senate seat. On the Republican side, former Governor Eric Greitens has announced he will run. Greitens comes with his own set of problems.

He resigned in 2018 after it was revealed he had had an extramarital affair, and threatened the woman involved with a nude photo he had taken of her to prevent her from making the relationship public. 

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt has also announced his candidacy. Other GOP names that have been mentioned, Reps. Ann Wagner and Jason Smith.

Possible Democrats vying for the seat include former State Senator Scott Sifton, former Marine from Independence Lucas Kunce, current State Senator Brian Williams and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas.
