Lindsey Graham Agrees With Biden On Black Woman Supreme Court Pick, 76% Of Americans Want All Options Considered

Lindsey Graham is echoing President Biden’s thoughts that choosing a Supreme Court nominee based on race and gender isn’t “affirmative action” but would make the court “look more like America.”

The Senator from South Carolina made the comments during an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“Put me in the camp of making sure the court and other institutions look like America,” the Republican proudly beamed.

“You know, we make a real effort as Republicans to recruit women and people of color to make the party look more like America,” he continued. “Affirmative action is picking somebody not as well qualified for past wrongs.”

Newsmax contributor Jenna Ellis hammered Graham over the comments, suggesting he was capitulating to Biden and showing that Republicans remain “pathetically weak.”

Graham Sides With Biden

It’s nearly impossible to differentiate between Biden and Graham on the matter.

“Everyone should be represented,” President Biden had said prior to becoming the Democrat nominee in 2020.

“The fact is, what we should be doing — we talked about the Supreme Court. I’m looking forward to making sure there’s a black woman on the Supreme Court to make sure we in fact get every representation,” he added. “Not a joke.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson took the time to deconstruct what Biden, and now Lindsey Graham, are saying.

“So, Biden will nominate a black woman. Great, she’ll represent about seven percent of the population. But where’s Biden’s Pacific Islander nominee?” Carlson asked viewers.

“And why isn’t there an American Indian on the court, or a genderqueer, or someone from the chronic fatigue syndrome community, or a justice with cognitive disabilities? Why isn’t there an Afghan refugee under consideration?” the Fox News host continued.

It would be interesting to see Carlson and Graham clash on this topic.

Graham and Maxine Sound Alike

Graham now appears to share common cause with Democrat Representative Maxine Waters (CA) who criticized the idea that choosing a Supreme Court nominee based on skin color and gender amounts to affirmative action.

“Even the most conservative member of the Supreme Court and Republicans know that it is beyond time to diversify the Supreme Court of America,” she said. “And the absence of a woman, a black woman, means that it is not diversified.”

“You don’t have at the table the voices of everyone in this country that should be represented.”

The Supreme Court is about interpreting laws and the Constitution. Not “representing voices.”

Waters added, “It’s disrespectful, dishonorable, and we are going (to) get past that.”

Graham already capitulating to Biden seems odd considering the American people overwhelmingly object to a Supreme Court nominee being chosen based on race or gender.

“Just over three-quarters of Americans (76%) want Biden to consider ‘all possible nominees,'” ABC News reports.

“Just 23% want him to automatically follow through on his history-making commitment that the White House seems keen on seeing through.”
