Liberals are celebrating the death of the country music star Toby Keith, who passed away on Monday at the age of 62 after a lengthy battle with stomach cancer, by rehashing his feud with the Dixie Chicks.

Keith’s Feud With Natalie Maines

“Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” Keith’s family said in a brief statement announcing his death.

Throughout his career, Keith was known for putting out music that was both patriotic and masculine, scoring hits like “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” “I Love This Bar,” and “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” Unfortunately, this made him a frequent target of liberals who despised the American values that he proudly stood for.

Back in 2002, the Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines spoke out against Keith’s song “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue,” describing the hit single as “ignorant.”

“I hate it… It makes country music sound ignorant. It targets an entire culture — and not just the bad people who did bad things,” she told the Los Angeles Daily News of the song. “You’ve got to have some tact. Anybody can write, ‘We’ll put a boot in your ass.’ But a lot of people agree with it.”

Keith fired back months later by telling CMT.com, “I’m a songwriter. She’s not. She can say my song is ignorant, then it’s ignorant for her to say that because she’s not a songwriter.”

Maines went on to attend the ACM Awards wearing a shirt that read “FUTK” — “F*** You Toby Keith.” Her publicist later alleged that the letters on the shirt stood for “freedom, understanding, tolerance, knowledge,” but nobody was buying that.

“Only Natalie can tell us why she wore it,” said Country Music Hall of Fame Senior Editor Jay Orr. “I have no idea why she wore it. We can speculate about her motives, but that would be a mistake.”

Though this feud has been dead for many years, social media users attempted to rehash it while celebrating Keith’s death:

Keith’s Alleged Feud With Kris Kristofferson

Others brought up Keith’s alleged political feud with Kris Kristofferson at Willie Nelson’s birthday party back in 2003. Legend has it that when Keith approached Nelson to wish him a happy birthday, he saw Kristofferson and said, “None of that lefty s*** out there tonight, Kris”

“What the f–k did you just say to me?” Kristofferson replied, according to Outsider. “You ever worn your country’s uniform?”

“You heard the question, you just don’t like the answer,” Kristofferson continued. “Have you ever served your country? The answer is, no, you have not. Have you ever killed another man? Huh? Have you ever taken another man’s life and then cashed the check your country gave you for doing it? No, you have not. So shut the f–k up!”

Keith would later deny that this exchange ever took place.

“Kris and I are good friends and have come close to working on a couple of projects,” Keith said in 2009. “I don’t have to defend myself on this. This is 100 percent fiction. And I’d bet a million dollars on a lie detector test that this didn’t happen.”

“You know, when I call somebody out, I say their name,” he added. “So, you can talk to Kris and you can talk to Willie. … They’ll all laugh and say it didn’t happen. … Somebody’s trying to get fiction in whatever magazine to make themselves a story. But if anybody does have anything to take this any further, I’m available. … They can find out the truth.”

Despite this, leftists attempted to rehash this supposed feud as well after Keith’s death:

It should be noted that Keith dared to perform at the 2017 presidential inauguration of Donald Trump, an unforgivable sin in the eyes of the left. It’s unfortunate that leftists are now celebrating Keith’s death by bringing up old feuds of his when he was such a patriot who simply loved this country with all his heart.

Rest in peace, Toby Keith.
